You'll have the opportunity to interview and select any caregiver who we refer to you.  You'll only accept a caregiver that you feel totally comfortable with.  When you meet our caregivers, you're going to be pleasantly surprised to see that at VISITING ANGELS, character matters!

Personalized Background Screening

At Visiting Angels we pride ourselves on the thoroughness of our personalized caregiver screening system:

• First, our human resources manager performs a comprehensive county, state and federal criminal background check on all possible caregivers. Unlike most other homecare companies, if any criminal record is found, regardless of the degree of the offense or when the past offense took place; the candidate is immediately disqualified from employment. We make no exceptions to this rule.


• We focus on the intangible traits in a caregiver which will mean so much in your day to day experience working with them. A caring, loving personality along with a strong desire to help people and family experience of caring for a loved one are all required traits. We realize it's not easy inviting a stranger into ones home, making the comfort of the care recipient our top priority.

All this to maximize the peace of mind of our clients and their families as we do realize that it is not easy to make the decision to invite a stranger into one's home.

We Recruit Experience!
We firmly believe in employing the finest people in the health care industry. Our caregivers are all Certified Home Health Aides (CHHAs) and/or Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and all have prior experience in professional homecare. Our caregivers provide us with references from reliable, trustworthy sources (assisted living communities, hospices, nursing homes, etc.). It is most important that we put your needs first, only referring licensed, experienced caregivers to you based upon your individual needs.

We're here to support you, not change your life- YOU ARE IN CHARGE and because of that we strive to maintain a continuity of care, ensuring that you'll keep the same caregiver for as long as possible. VISITING ANGELS will not dictate to you what your schedule is to be (i.e. what time to get up, when to bathe, meal schedules, etc.) We also do not require any adjustments to your schedule, like many other agencies and we feel it is important that even with assisted living, that you are to be treated as an adult. It's our job to adjust to your schedule and to see that you remain comfortable in your own home.

Continuity of Care
You are in charge of everything.  Because we strive to maintain “continuity of care” (we keep the same caregiver you select with you as long as possible), VISITING ANGELS will not dictate to you what your schedule is to be (i.e. what time to get up, when to bathe, meal schedules etc.), as do some agencies that continually send new, unfamiliar staff.  We also do not require you to adjust your schedule to accommodate the needs of our staff.  You are the boss.  It is our job to adjust to your schedule and to see to it that you remain comfortable in your own home.
