Visiting Angels Expands Homecare Services

Visiting Angels Living Assistance Services Expansion
Provides Care for Seniors & Respite for Family Members

The Visiting Angels office located in Littleton is expanding its services to senior citizens and their families south to Castle Rock and surrounding communities, west to the mountain communities and east to Parker.  According to the Colorado Department of Human Services, the population of individuals over the age of sixty will increase by more than 47% in the next ten years in Colorado.  Of that population, close to 40% will be moderately disabled and need some type of assistance so they can continue living independently in their homes.

Helping others remain safe and comfortable in their own home is paramount to owner Carl Knight. His staff of caring professionals have been making a difference in the lives of the families served, one day at a time for over 8 years. The Visiting Angels office in Littleton opened to help others after one of the Knight family members suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Per Knight, “We learned firsthand what it means to be a full time family caregiver, the effect it has on everyone, and the importance of seeking respite from the stress. With our family member’s successful recovery and rehabilitation, we decided it was time to help others in need.”

Visiting Angels, licensed by the State of Colorado, offers non-medical assistance primarily to the senior population, the majority still living independently, as well as those living in senior facilities.  The services offer families respite and care on many different levels by providing assistance with personal hygiene, medication reminders, errands, shopping and accompaniment to doctor appointments, meal preparation, light housekeeping, protective oversight, and companionship.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than five million individuals in the United States have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia, and some 15 million family caregivers are providing assistance.  In Colorado, 72,000 individuals have been diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease.  Because of the growing number of individuals and their families who are affected by Alzheimer’s Disease, Visiting Angels has partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association’s Colorado Chapter and is certified as a Leader in Dementia Care.

Visiting Angels was recently ranked 5th in its category in the Denver Post’s Top Work Places Awards, which resulted from confidential surveys completed by each employee.  Per Knight, “We are actively looking to employ individuals with caring hearts who want to make a difference in the lives of others. As a spouse of one Visiting Angels employees commented, “Happy employees make for happy customers.”
