Locally, Visiting Angels of Riverside County is an award winning homecare company owned and operated by Joan E. Roberts, Ph.D. Joan is the author of “How to Find a Caregiver for Your Parent: A Guide to Assist You.”
Dr. Roberts began her career as a speech pathologist, working with the elderly in skilled nursing facilities, convalescent centers, and hospitals. She also worked in public education as a speech pathologist, coordinator for special education services, a director of special education, and a special education plan area director. In addition, Joan served as an assistant professor of speech pathology and clinical supervisor at the University of Redlands, and a lecturer at California State University. Joan’s desire to combine her experiences with the elderly and the disabled led her to open a homecare company providing the services that her patients desired.
Dr. Roberts was born and raised in Riverside, CA and attended local schools. She earned her bachelors and masters degrees in communicative disorders from the University of Redlands, a family alma mater, and her Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside, another family alma mater. In 2008, Joan’s business was honored as Small Business of the Year for the 66th California Assembly District. In 2012, she was honored as a Woman of Achievement by the YWCA of Riverside County. In 2013, Joan graduated from Leadership Riverside sponsored by the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce, and was honored as a Woman of Distinction for the 61st Assembly District. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Riverside Community College District Foundation, the Janet Goeske Center Foundation, and the Riverside Medical Clinic Foundation. Joan is also a sustaining member of the Junior League of Riverside.
