Our Caregivers

One of the advantages in choosing Visiting Angels is having the opportunity to select your own caregiver. That is important not only to optimize the caregiver’s relationship with the care recipient but also to provide the confidence and peace of mind essential to the family.

Visiting Angels employs only experienced caregivers. It is required that each has a minimum of three years experience in caregiving or related fields, such as nursing facilities. Some of our caregivers are Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and some are Geriatric Nursing Assistants (GNA). All of them must have a caring and nurturing nature to work for us.

Visiting Angels uses a professional screening service to conduct the necessary reference and background checks on all potential caregivers including:

• Personal interviews by the Director
• Extensive reference checks, including personal and work references
• A background check that consists of a Social Security number trace, a 7-year county criminal search, a 7 years federal district criminal search, national crime database search (national sex offenders registry search and a wants/warrants search), and a driving record clearance.
• Tuberculosis screening.
• CPR certification.
• The Director ensures that she would trust a particular caregiver in caring for her own parents.

We only hire a caregiver after they have been cleared through all of the processes.
