Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce September Breakfast
On September 22, Visiting Angels West Springfield sponsored a table at the Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce’s September Breakfast hosted by the 104th Fighter Wing. The breakfast was held Friday morning from 7:00-9:00 am.
This event, held on the Barnes Air National Guard Base, brought together local businesses and professionals from within the greater Westfield area to network and foster relationships within the commercial community, especially with those in the 104th Air Wing unit. The occasion received the biggest turnout since before the 2020 pandemic.
The event was opened by Colonel David Halasai-kun, commander of the 104th Fighter Wing. He welcomed attendees as well as spoke of the news of the unit being slated to receive new F-35 jets to replace the out-of-date F-15s. This news was pivotal for the unit, according to Colonel Halasai-kun, as it may have shut down without this current technology.
Other speakers included special guest John DeVoie, Honorary Wing Commander of the 104th fighter wing, along with keynote speaker Lissette Grimaldi, CNO/Chief Administrative Officer at Baystate Noble Hospital, and master of ceremonies Chris Thompson, owner of the Westfield Starfires.
Also in attendance was Westfield Mayor Michael McCabe, State Senator John Velis, and State Representative Kelly Pease. They brought up key concerns to the business community, as well as provided updates and results on current projects.
Visiting Angels West Springfield was honored to be in attendance at the breakfast and to have the opportunity to meet other professionals in the area and foster new relationships.
The Angels’ current goal is to spread awareness of the VA Aid and Assistance program and the VA Homemaker & Home Health Aide Care program. These programs, through the Department of Veteran Affairs, provide financial assistance and access to specialized homecare services. By meeting the necessary requirements, veterans could receive in-home services from the Visiting Angels rather than entering a facility.
Through this breakfast, the Visiting Angels was able to network with a number of local businesses including Baystate Noble Hospital and Norcom Mortgage in hopes to work together to improve the health of the greater Westfield community.
