Caregiver of the Month: Karen H.
Karen is approaching her 4th year with Visiting Angels of Auburn. She's worked with children in the past, in insurance, and for other homecare agencies, but she heard that Visiting Angels is the best, so she came to work for us!
Karen enjoys the work that she does but acknowledges the challenges of watching the decline of health in those that she has worked with. Some skills she has developed over the years that have helped her be better at her job include:
- Paying attention to the details in the client's care plan
- Patience and compassion
- Getting to know the people she works with on a personal level to better serve them
Karen keeps in mind that even us caregivers may someday be in their position, so she’s sure to treat her clients with dignity and respect.
For Karen, the most rewarding part of being a caregiver is meeting all the nice families that she gets to work with. A true Aquarius, Karen enjoys the thrill of travel in her off time and learning about cultures that are new and different. We are grateful to have such an adventurous soul as part of our caregiver team.
