Caregiver Spotlight: Pamela R.

Pam has been with Visiting Angels since November of 2013. She is known for speaking her mind and is honest to a fault, so some of this interview has been edited for content – per Pam's permission. Before joining our team of caregivers, Pam worked at CMC's pathology lab handling samples – a position she truly loved and enjoyed.

Finding herself bored after retirement and the passing of her husband, Pam decided to use her background as a Certified Nursing Assistant to remain active and to give back to the community. She loves the elderly and is upset by the people who do not appreciate them.

Pam explains, "You have to care about what you are doing and the quality of life for people – it's not a paycheck."

The challenge for Pam as a caregiver is not the client (who can often be confused due to conditions like dementia), but rather those that are not doing their best to care for that client. Pam has a strong work ethic and high standards that have contributed to her being selected for Visiting Angels of Auburn’s Caregiver of The Month.

Fun fact about Pam is that she considers herself boring – although she admits to being around the block a time or two – but she will try anything once. And is someone who practices yoga with her two cats really that boring?

Thank you, Pam, for being such a compassionate and dedicated caregiver on our team. We appreciate your bright mind, kind heart, and honesty when it comes to caring for clients!

As a caregiver at Visiting Angels of Auburn, you can help seniors remain independent in their own home.  If you are like Pam and are passionate about working with seniors by providing outstanding care, reach out to our office today! We would love to speak with you.
