Caregiver Spotlight: Virginia B.

Virginia has been in the health care industry for over 20 years. She has worked in California, Texas and internationally as well. Part of what makes Virginia a well-rounded caregiver is that not only does she have a vast amount of professional experience, but personal experience taking care of her parents as well.

Virginia heard about Visiting Angels and our reputation from a friend that works at a Visiting Angels franchise in London- she heard about our outstanding reputation and wanted to work for the best! She enjoys being able to pick the days and times that she works and the friendly and helpful staff that she works with.

Virginia talked about the most challenging part of her position as a caregiver is being in the middle of the client, the family dynamic, the care team, the office staff, etc. – and trying to help mediate all the different and sometimes challenging dynamics while keeping everyone safe and happy. Caregivers are needed and depended upon by those they care for – even in the cold and snowy weather.

Virginia's advice for new caregivers includes: Apply, do the job (it can be hard at first) but never give up. Caregivers have a support team that includes a mentor and office staff and there are also many trainings that are made available to them. The job is rewarding and will teach you many life lessons. And everyone appreciates you when you do a good job. When you give someone "the best of you" you are also helping yourself.

In her downtime, Virginia enjoys traveling, shopping, dancing and laughing with friends. She's currently "living life without complaint."
