Four Holiday Activities in Chelmsford the Whole Family Will Love

The leaves are turning colors and the air has a crispy cold bite, sure signs that the holidays are coming to Massachusetts. Visiting Angels of Chelmsford can help you get your elderly loved ones excited for the holidays with companion care and respite care for other family members. Experiencing the holiday magic is always important during this season, so we have a few suggestions for families of all ages to enjoy time together at these local events, creating lasting memories for everyone.

Christmas Craft Vendor and Fair – November 26

Get some early holiday shopping done and enjoy the holiday spirit at the Christmas Craft and Vendor Fair, coming to the Chelmsford Lowell Elks Lodge (300 Littleton Rd, Chelmsford) on November 26. The event runs from 5-9 pm and there will be a bar open for the adults. Support your favorite local businesses and vendors for Small Business Saturday! All proceeds from the event go to The Paul Center, a local nonprofit dedicated to assisting individuals with disabilities in developing their maximum potential and independence.

Whoopie Wagon at Weston Nurseries – Sundays, November 27, December 4, and December 11

The Whoo(pie) Wagon is headed to Weston Nurseries Garden Center for the holidays! Pick up this celebrated treat for yourself, as hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, or just a fun addition under the tree. Enjoy a warm cup of fresh cocoa while you look at the Christmas trees, snow globes, wreaths, garland, holiday décor, and fun gifts for your favorite gardener. You can find out more about Weston Nurseries at www.westonnurseries.com.

The Wagon will be at Chelmsford’s Weston Nursery (160 Pine Hill Rd, Chelmsford) from 11 am to 3 pm all three days.

Chelmsford Tree Lighting and Holiday Prelude – December 3 and 4

Chelmsford welcomes the holidays with two town tree lightings! Vinal Square hosts the North Chelmsford Common Tree Lighting Saturday, December 3, beginning at 4 pm. The event features live music, pizza, and hot chocolate provided by Bianco’s Catering and The Establishment and is sponsored by Ace Hardware.

The celebration continues Sunday, December 4, with Chelmsford’s Annual Holiday Prelude at the Town Center. The action begins just after 4 pm, with a live staging of the story of the Nativity at Journey Church with the Angel Choir. The tree lighting is set for 5 pm, with music by the Quintessential Brass Band at the Old Porch Hotel, horse-drawn carriages, tractor-drawn hayrides, festive storefronts, photos with Santa, and food and drinks provided by Brickhouse Pizza, Fishbone’s, Hannaford Supermarket, and Summer Street Grocers highlight this day’s activities. Stop by the gingerbread village at All Saint’s Church, write letters to Santa at the Artisan’s Exchange, and listen to storytellers at the Little School House. Old Mill House Coffee joins in the fun with a craft fair at Cushing Place. Other local sponsors include Christopher’s Towing, Chelmsford Rotary, Landmark Realty, Chelmsford Business Association, and Trinity Ambulance. Truly an event for the whole family!

Chelmsford Community Jazz Band Holiday Concert – December 9

The Chelmsford Community Jazz Band performs its annual holiday concert on December 9 at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts (1A North Road, Chelmsford) at 7 pm. Arthur Bakopolos leads a 20-piece ensemble joined by vocalists Brian Henderson and Anita Wood, celebrating the season with holiday favorites. Rumor has it there may even be a special visitor from the North Pole!

The Chelmsford Community Band was founded in 1972 and is a volunteer group of adult musicians who greatly enjoy bringing live music to the greater Chelmsford area. The concert band and jazz ensemble both perform several concerts throughout the year and on Chelmsford Common every summer. For more information, visit the Facebook page: facebook.com/ChelmsfordCommunityBand

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children and are available at the door. The event also features a cash bar. Free parking is always available in the CCA parking lot, at 9 North Road evenings and weekends, and in the Municipal Parking Lot behind Santander Bank.

The holidays are a time of year when we come together with our loved ones and experience how they are getting along and sometimes find that they need more help.
