Helping Seniors Maintain Their Independence

Helping Seniors Maintain Their Independence

More and more seniors are choosing to age in place, meaning they'll stay in their home instead of moving to an assisted living or senior care community. Aging in place is an excellent option for many seniors, as it allows them to maintain their independence and stay in a familiar space. However, as we age, we may face challenges in caring for ourselves, where in-home care agencies such as Visiting Angels come in!

What is In-Home Care

Home care enables seniors to live at home comfortably and safely through the help of a trained caregiver. At Visiting Angels, caregivers can help seniors with various nonmedical tasks such as medication reminders, household chores, personal grooming, dressing, mobility assistance, meal preparation, and more. We also offer specialized care, such as dementia care, for seniors who need additional help.

Besides helping seniors with daily tasks, we also provide respite care for families looking for temporary care. Respite care is an excellent option for primary family caregivers to relax and recharge to avoid caregiver burnout. Our Ready-Set-Go Home program helps seniors transition home safely to reduce readmission for seniors returning home after a hospital stay. We also work alongside hospice teams to make the final moments of your aging loved one's life as comfortable as possible.

Benefits of In-Home Care

There are many reasons a senior may want to age in place, and hiring an in-home caregiver brings additional benefits to the safety and well-being of your loved one.

Personalized Care

Every person ages differently and has different needs. With in-home care, caregivers can provide personalized care designed to meet the specific needs of each client. Unlike in an assisted living facility or nursing home where caregivers provide care to multiple clients at once, in-home caregivers focus on one client at a time. Having one client allows the caregiver to focus on your loved one's needs and ensure they get the best possible care.

Flexible Scheduling

In-home care focuses on providing the best care for the client, which means our caregivers get scheduled for as much or as little time as they need. If your loved one only needs help getting ready in the morning, you can hire a caregiver for a few hours to help with breakfast and getting dressed. If your loved one needs overnight assistance, you can arrange for a night caregiver to help with bedtime and make sure they're comfortable throughout the night.

Maintained Independence

One of the most significant benefits of in-home care is allowing seniors to maintain their independence. In-home care means seniors can continue living at home on their own. Caregivers are not there to coddle seniors but provide help throughout the day to make their life easier. In-home caregiving also gives families ease to know their loved one has somebody regularly caring for them.

Getting Started with Visiting Angels

If you're caring for an aging loved one and are interested in starting home care with Visiting Angels Knoxville, please visit us online or call us at 865-531-4833 to schedule a free consultation. During the consultation, a member of our care coordination team meets with you and your loved one to learn more about the care you need. This meeting is also an excellent time to ask questions and learn more about our caregivers and services.

After the consultation, our care coordinator will develop a personalized care plan for your loved one. Once the care plan is complete, we will match your loved one with one of our skilled caregivers. Not only will we find a caregiver with the proper skills to take care of your loved one, but we'll also do our best to find a caregiver with a similar personality and interest. With a care plan and caregiver assigned, the in-home services can start, usually within 48-hours.

Our Knoxville office serves those in the greater Knoxville area, including Anderson, Loudon, and Roane counties. If you'd like to learn more about our services, please visit us online or call us at 865-531-4833.
