Frequently Asked Home Care Questions & Answers

Answers to Your Most Common Questions

It can be overwhelming to decide what is best for you and your loved one’s long term care. At Visiting Angels Medford, MA we want to help make that choice easier for you. We have been providing care to seniors for over 15 years by selecting the most compassionate and experienced caregivers in the industry.

Your questions and concerns are valid and important. We are happy to assist you in navigating senior care so that you can make the best decision for you and your loved one. We have created a list of frequently asked questions to help you navigate this phase of life. Visiting Angels also provides free home care consultations to help guide you through the process and give you peace of mind without any pressure.

Q: What kind of services do you provide?

A: Visiting Angels Medford, MA provides companion care and personal care services. Our home care services may include medication reminders, light housekeeping, meal preparation, fall prevention, grooming and bathing assistance, and running errands.

Q: During what hours is your agency able to offer assistance?

A: We offer 24/7 care. Whether you and your loved one are looking for a few hours during the day, evening or overnights, we are able to accommodate all requests. Our caregiver services policy is a minimum three hour shift. For example, if a caregiver comes on Monday to help your loved one, they stay for at least three hours. This ensures we can provide comprehensive support for an effective care experience.

Q: How is in-home personal care different from home health care?

A: Home health care is medical care provided in the home by a trained and certified medical professional, such as a nurse, physical therapist, or occupational therapist. Visiting Angels’ caregivers do not provide medical care, such as administering prescription medication or changing wound dressings. Non-medical home care services through Visiting Angels’ offer companionship and assistance with activities of daily living.

Q: What makes us different from another home care agency?

A: What sets us apart from other home care agencies is the very essence of who we are – a family-run business dedicated to providing unparalleled care for the past 15 years. Unlike larger agencies, we prioritize a personal touch, understanding that each client has unique needs and concerns. You can learn more about us on our ‘About Us’ page.

Q: How much does home care cost?

A: Visit our home care Cost page to learn more about our affordable home care and accepted payment methods.

Q: Do your caregivers have experience?

A: Our caregivers undergo a thorough hiring process to ensure the highest standards of care. We seek individuals with a minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience. We also look for caregivers who have Home Health Aid, Personal Care Aid, and/or Certified Nursing Assistant certifications. We conduct two background checks (iCori and a national background) and reference checks for every new hire. In addition, all of our caregivers are insured and bonded through our agency, emphasizing our commitment to your safety and peace of mind.

Q: Can I change the schedule if my loved one has an appointment?

A: Yes, schedule changes are easily accomplished with as little as 1 week notice. Our philosophy is to make the schedule work for the family, not the agency. You come first - your needs, your requests, your schedule. We will do everything possible to make sure the schedule you want is the schedule you get.

Q: What if I no longer need services?

A: If you no longer need services provided by a Visiting Angels caregiver, we ask for at least 24 hours notice before cancellation of services. If you need to decrease the number of hours/days your loved one receives care, we can accommodate a permanent schedule change.

Q: Do you provide services in assisted living facilities?

A: Yes. People sometimes discover that the assistance provided in an assisted living facility is not sufficient enough to enable them to remain independent. Or they need extra support while transitioning from independent living to an assisted living facility. Maybe your loved one needs more light housekeeping, meal preparation or companionship services. In these cases, Visiting Angels Medford, MA provides a qualified caregiver to make this possible.

Q: How do I start home care services with Visiting Angels?

A: Contact us at (781) 395-0023! We will discuss you and your loved ones' needs over the phone and schedule a free in-home consultation where one of our team members comes to your home and conducts an in-take assessment. We will then, at your direction, identify caregivers who have the skills, personality and availability to assist you. You will then be able to meet the caregiver, and if you approve, they will begin working for you.
