WHAT IS ‘LIVING ASSISTANCE SERVICES’?
I love the tag ‘Living Assistance Services’. This tag line is really what sets Visiting Angels apart both nationally and in Kilmarnock. It means so much more than simply Senior Care, At-home Care, or Companion care. Occasionally, I hear the general public refer to our services as ‘sitters’ – WRONG. ‘Sitters’ are independent caregivers who do just that – SIT. There is no formalized care-plan or Nurse Assessment, no RN supervision, no liability coverage and no bonding.
Living Assistance Services involve more than just in home care. Visiting Angels of Kilmarnock assists seniors to seek out appropriate regional senior services. Visit our library/café at 68 South Main Street in Kilmarnock and you’ll find a generous library that will serve to inform our elder population about other regional services. We have brochures from other area services such as: Adult Living Communities, Convalescent Homes, Geriatric Support, Home Health, Physical Therapy, Physicians, Hospice Support and more. We know these providers and will, if requested, refer you to additional senior care providers where appropriate.
Visiting Angels also performs many other elder-services. We provide comprehensive Home Safety checks, Fall Prevention assistance, ongoing assessment for Activities of Daily Living. Our RN’s and Client Services Liaison provide Personal Care assistance and supervisory visits to assure peace of mind. In short, we help seniors and their family navigate the ever-growing maize of health-care services.
Living Assistance Services means that our caregivers are trained not only in general, but also to your specific needs. Home safety, Fall Risk assessment, Alzheimer’s/Dementia care, post-surgical care and palliative care are all part of the Living Assistance Services that Visiting Angels is committed to.
