February 2020 brought the first case of Covid 19 to Oklahoma.  With it came the need to review, reassess, and reimagine how to do home care. 

Visiting Angels SE-OKC knew that the virus would necessitate some changes in how we continued to meet the needs of our clients.  Unfortunately, for us, at this time, we were also dealing with a death of a family member and the severe illness of another.  Changes had to be implemented quickly! 

Some of our clients put holds on services, while some ended their contracts.  Going into Assisted Living Facilities became increasingly difficult.  Schedules had to be rearranged and caregivers had to be equipped with needed PPE.

Our backbone, here at our SE-OKC office is our dedicated office staff.  We knew that they had to be protected from the virus just as much as our in-home caregivers.  Therefore, they were given the option to work from home.  Some of them took us up on our offer, but others realized that working from home would not allow them to maintain the current workflow of our demanding business.  

Now that the state has reopened, we have moved into a “new normal”.   We want to take this opportunity to recognize Office Manager Krystle, Veteran’s Liaison Jamie, and Human Resources Coordinator Lindsey.  Krystal and Jamie have come into the SE-OKC every day and maintained business as usual, in spite of having to perform temperature checks and social distancing from our caregivers.  Lindsey has manned our Shawnee office, as well as coming into the SE-OKC office to help during peak office hours.  We also want to thank Terrah, for working diligently from home and keeping us up to date on all Veterans’ care matters and staying safe at home.

We cannot thank these ladies enough, not just for keeping us going and also for keeping us growing.
