Home Care in Holliston

Holliston is a town in New England near Milford and Hopkinton and a short distance from Boston. Holliston has many smaller divisions within its borders as well as two official historic districts, both of which contain smaller landmark areas of historic significance.

The Thomas Hollis Historic District is the civic and commercial “heart” of Holliston. It extends along Washington Street for about a mile and includes a number of well-preserved buildings that showcase their 19th-century architecture.

The East Holliston Historic District includes some of Holliston’s first early colonial settlements, including the site of its first meeting house.

Holliston was once the largest producer of shoes in the United States, and, although many of the factories were lost by fires and other problems, the largest, the Goodwill Shoe Company, still has remaining factories that are now used as artists’ studios.

Now home to more than 15,000 residents, Holliston’s senior population makes up close to 10% of the population, many of whom live alone.

Home Care in Holliston with Visiting Angels

Visiting Angels provides home care in Holliston, MA, and the surrounding communities. With a goal of allowing seniors to “age in place” and continue to live in their homes, our plans are tailored to meet each of our client’s individual needs.

We begin our process with a free, in-home comprehensive assessment, and then we develop a customized home care plan that is uniquely tailored to meet those needs, using our Life Care Navigation™ program.

As people get older, many of them begin to need help doing the day-to-day things that they used to be able to do for themselves, such as bathing and dressing, toileting, and meal preparation. Our personal care plans are designed to help with these daily activities. Our plans also offer light housekeeping, transportation and errands, medication reminders, and more.

Another very real problem that elderly seniors who live far away from their families may experience is depression. To help combat this, Visiting Angels offers companion care services to seniors in the Holliston area. This program can help provide the social interaction that is necessary to help prevent senior isolation. In addition to companionship, we can also provide transportation services to the Holliston Senior Center, which provides a wide range of programs, activities, classes, and trips for Holliston residents aged 55+.

Slips, trips, and falls are also a concern, as they are a top cause of injury for seniors and can impede their ability to remain independent. Our Safe & Steady fall prevention program helps to identify and fix the risk factors that might cause your loved one to fall in or near their Holliston home.

Of course, no matter how careful you are or how many precautions you might take, there are still times when a hospital stay is necessary. Unfortunately, seniors who are released from the hospital are at a higher risk for readmission than others. Our “Ready, Set, Go Home” transitional care program is designed to help mitigate these risks and create a smooth and easy transition back home.

For seniors who currently have family members providing their care, respite care can help avoid caregiver burnout by giving families a much-needed break without feeling sad, guilty, or stressed.

Whether there is a need for just a few hours of home care, 24/7 care, or somewhere in between, Visiting Angels provides a flexible approach to home care that allows us to meet the needs of our clients and their families.
