What is Caregiving

Caregiving is the act of caring for someone, most often seniors, who need additional assistance in the home. Caregiving is not the same as nursing or working as a nursing assistant. At-home caregivers provide non-medical services to clients to help them live more comfortably and safely at home.

There are many caregiving types, but the most common types of care are companion care and personal care. With companion care, the primary goal is to provide the client companionship and assist with small daily tasks such as cooking and light housekeeping. Personal care includes the same services as companion care and helping the client with personal care needs such as bathing and dressing.

Clients need caregivers at all hours of the day and night, so whether you're looking for a job to fill your mornings or you're more interested in overnight shifts, you'll have the flexibility to create a schedule that works best for you. When you're working as a caregiver with Visiting Angels, we will work with you to find clients whose schedules match yours. We also offer full-time and part-time positions, so you can dictate how much you work each week.
