Daniella Franklin & Daphney Sainvilus, Co-Angels of the Month, April 2020

Co-Angel of the Month: Daphney Sainvilus

We are so pleased to award Daphney Sainvilus our Co-Angel(s) of the Month for April 2020. Daphney began working with Visiting Angels Newton/Canton in November of 2006. She was described as having excellent communication skills, friendly, and experienced in her initial interviews. We were excited to begin working with her from the start.

Daphney came to Massachusetts from Haiti in 1999 with her brother to join their mother and father. Her aunt and cousins remain in Haiti. Daphney makes sure to visit them every couple of years. She married her husband in 2002 and had her first child soon after. She is a loving mother of two and enjoys spending time with her children and making home-cooked meals for them on her days off.

Daphney helped with her ailing grandmother when she was a youngster in Haiti, and that experience led her to realize that she loved caring for people, especially the elderly. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in 2004 and worked for a nursing home for two years before becoming a member of Visiting Angels Newton/Canton.

Daphney had five clients with Visiting Angels Newton/Canton before she began working with her current Client in 2009. It soon became apparent that she possessed both the skills and ability to navigate some of the more intricate needs of this Client. Her professionalism and capacity for empathy give her Client a high level of confidence and trust in her capabilities.

Daphney has quickly responded to and manages her Client’s health challenges with a listening ear, patience, and compassion. She requires little support from her Case Manager, because she possesses the ability to impressively manage it all, with positivity and grace.

Daphney expressed her thankfulness for Case Manager, Susan Saris, for her understanding of the demands and challenges of the work she does. “Susan is great. She listens to me and is so supportive.” Susan shared, “I am so glad that she feels supported by me but I have to say, Daphney’s ability as a Caregiver is inspiring, and I am deeply grateful.”

Daphney has a very special connection with her Co-Angel, Daniella. Daphney Sainvilus and Daniella Franklin have known each other for over twenty years. They were neighbors and friends back in Haiti. It was Daphney who contacted Daniella, suggesting she apply to work with Visiting Angels. Daphney is thankful to have Daniella to partner with on this case. She knows that they can rely on each other to work hard and provide support to one another as their Client’s needs evolve, allowing them to make suggestions, to listen and validate one another.

We are very honored to award you Co-Angel of the Month for April 2020, Daphney. You have shown tremendous compassion and strength with each Client in your care. We thank you for your commitment and dedication and look forward to working together for many years to come.

Co-Angel of the Month: Daniella Franklin

We are honored to award Daniella Franklin Co-Angel of the Month for April 2020. Daniella began working with Visiting Angels Newton/Canton in July of 2013. She was described as confident, outgoing, and knowledgeable in her interview notes.

Daniella moved to Massachusetts from Haiti in 2001 with her husband and daughter. She keeps in close contact with her sister and three brothers and their families back home. Daniella’s mother lives with her and her family. Her daughter is nineteen and attends nursing school, and her three sons are in grade school. Daniella’s mother provides support for her children while she is working.

Daniella was an administrative assistant back in Haiti but knew she wanted to have a career where she could help others. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in 2003 and worked in nursing homes for ten years before joining Visiting Angels. Daniella had little experience with the elderly before becoming a CNA, but quickly found she loved caring for seniors because of the appreciation they showed for her assistance.

There is a very special connection between Daniella and her Co-Angel, Daphney. Daniella Franklin and Daphney Sainvilus have known each other for over twenty years. They were neighbors and friends back in Haiti. Daphney was the person who contacted Daniella and suggested she apply to become a Caregiver for Visiting Angels Newton/Canton. Daniella was hired and immediately put on the case with Daphney. Together, the two have been caring for the same Client for seven years. Case Manager, Susan Saris, shared, “I was grateful to Daphney for referring Daniella to Visiting Angels Newton/Canton. Daniella became active with us on July 25th in 2013 and began working with her current Client the following day. I had been searching for a professional home Caregiver with the right skills and temperament to work on this case, and through our communication, it became clear to me that Daniella possessed all those strengths. I hoped she would have the ability to meet all the Client’s needs. Daniella has been able to do so and for seven years, she has provided excellent home care with tremendous compassion and empathy. All I can say is that I am incredibly grateful to be working with Daniella; for her willingness, dedication, flexibility, professionalism, and her genuinely open heart. It is my pleasure to be able to support her in any way I can.”

Daniella is grateful for her relationship with Daphney, working side by side with her, and with the encouragement she receives from her Case Manager, Susan Saris.

We are deeply honored to award you Co-Angel of the Month for April 2020, Daniella. Your kindness, patients, and positive outlook have reflected on the incredible home care service you provide to our Client. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.

We look forward to many more years together.
