Homemaker and Home Health Aide Program

The Department of Veteran’s Affairs has a special program called the Homemaker and Home Health Aide Program. The Homemaker and Home Health Aide program is only for the Veteran. Under this program, Visiting Angels can help with private duty home care services such as: Showering/bathing and dressing, Preparing Meals, Light housekeeping, Laundry etc.

The VA (Leeds MA) approves all Veterans for this program and the VA determines the hours of service. The services are paid by the VA. Visiting Angels of the Berkshires has been a proud provider for this Homemaker and Home Health Aide program since 2016.

How Do You Get Approved for Homemaker and Home Health Aide Program?

1. Register with a VA clinic – Find your closest VA location; for those veterans in Western Massachusetts, it will likely be the Edward P. Borland Medical Center 421 North Main Street, Leeds, MA 01053
2. See a VA Doctor – Ask the VA Doctor to recommend you for the Homemaker Home Health Aide Care Program.
3. Select Your Provider – Once you are approved, ask for Visiting Angels of the Berkshires as your Provider. The VA will then fax us the authorization and Visiting Angels will reach out to you to get started with in-home care.

Other Available Veteran Benefits

If your senior loved one is a U.S. Military Veteran and is receiving – or is eligible to receive – a veteran’s pension, they may also qualify for additional monetary benefits.

Aid and Attendance Program

The VA Aid and Attendance program is a VA approved program for veterans our their spouse. In this program, your VA pension can be increased to cover in-home care expenses. This a great program to help you or your loved one remain in the home you are familiar while getting the care you need.
