Companion Care

Companion care services allow our clients to safely keep up with daily activities while continuing to live independently, in their own home, with assistance.

You don't have to consider yourself elderly to be in need of companion care services. Companion care services may be used by people of all ages for multiple reasons. A person who has had outpatient surgery or a recent injury may be in need of temporary assistance through companion care. Companion care services are also frequently used by people who have short-term memory loss, dementia, or Alzheimer's. People who have loss of vision or other disabilities may find companion care services very valuable. However, the elderly are the largest group of people to rely on companion care services for assistance with their daily routines and to help maintain a healthy and socially active lifestyle.

If you or your loved one is struggling to live safely at home or is recovering from illness or injury, having a compassionate, loving companion care professional can make a world of difference. With our referrals for companion care services, our clients can remain safely at home while enjoying care from an experienced caregiver.

At Visiting Angels St. Petersburg / Largo, we're proud to provide compassionate, proactive companion care referrals to families to help you or your loved one stay home and continue living independently with assistance from the caregivers in our referral network.

What is Companion Care?

Companion care provides emotional support, companionship and day-to-day assistance for clients who want to remain independent at home where assistance may be needed. The goal of companion care is to ensure that our clients can live healthy and safely in their own home, while maintaining their independence with dignity.

Getting older often means loss of mobility and mental decline. Caregivers assist both our clients and their family members to provide help with daily activities such as taking clients grocery shopping, to a doctor’s appointment, or simply enjoying a conversation. Companion care spans the emotional, social and physical well-being of clients, changing as the client’s needs change.

Our companion care services include:

  • Directional assistance
  • Early Alzheimer’s care and Dementia care
  • Respite for primary caregivers
