Visiting Angels, the nation’s leading provider of in-home senior care, announces Tammy Tome as one of the 10 semi-finalists for its prestigious National Caregiver of the Year award. 

Tammy has spent the last 25 years as a caregiver, joining Visiting Angels York, PA, two years ago. In her short time as an Angel, she has made a lasting impact and is known for her warmth, composure, and dependability.

Tammy brings the same level of professionalism and heartfelt care to every setting, whether that’s a home or an assisted living facility.”

Tammy is a trusted advocate who ensures her clients are supported both physically and emotionally. When one client was living in a shelter without proper support, Tammy stepped in, provided consistent care, and helped him reconnect with his loved ones. Today, he is in stable housing and credits Tammy with helping him feel like a real person again.

The wife of another client described Tammy as ‘the wind behind their backs’ on some days and ‘a welcome break’ for her on others. She added Tammy is a voice of reason as families navigate the complexities of aging with diseases such as Parkinson's.

The Visiting Angels National Caregiver of the Year Award celebrates the extraordinary contributions of caregivers who provide exceptional care to senior clients and their families. The 10 semi-finalists were selected from nominations nationwide, honoring caregivers who embody Visiting Angels’ caring values, demonstrate professionalism in their work, and show a commitment to improving the lives of seniors and their families.

The winner of the 2025 Caregiver of the Year award will be announced at the Visiting Angels annual conference in June. The grand prize recipient will receive $10,000, and two finalists will each receive $5,000.
