Local Kennewick Caregiver Named Finalist for National Award
Visiting Angels, the nation’s leading provider of in-home senior care, announces Samantha J. Fishman of Kennewick, Washington, as one of the 10 semi-finalists for its prestigious National Caregiver of the Year award.
Samantha J. Fishman joined Visiting Angels Kennewick two years ago and has provided more than 1,600 hours of care. Office staff at Visiting Angels of Kennewick appreciate Samantha because she’s reliable and dedicated. They can count on her to stay later with a client if needed and train fellow caregivers.
“Samantha takes time to understand her clients’ needs deeply and comes up with a unique approach for every situation to help create safe and comfortable environments for her clients,” said Christine Rose-VanWormer, owner of Visiting Angels Kennewick. “She’s a role model for our next generation of caregivers.”
Using her children’s toys, Samantha creates innovative activities catering to clients’ interests to encourage them to use their minds and perform exercises. Over the last year, she has helped one special client vastly improve her cognitive and physical strength.
“Samantha has helped this client’s personality and loving nature blossom through her genuine compassion and consistent efforts to find new ways to engage her. She’s enhanced this client’s quality of life,” said Kim Farrell, care coordinator at Visiting Angels Kennewick.
Visiting Angels’ National Caregiver of the Year Award celebrates the extraordinary contributions of caregivers who go above and beyond to provide care for their senior clients and their families. The semi-finalists were selected from entries throughout the nationwide Visiting Angels franchise locations. The caregivers nominated embody Visiting Angels’ compassionate values and demonstrate excellence through the quality care they provide.

Visiting Angels will announce the Caregiver of the Year winner at its annual conference in June. The winner will receive a $5,000 prize, and two finalists will each receive a check for $2,500.
