What Caregiving Service Is Right For Me?

What Caregiving Service Is Right For Me?

More than half of all older adults rely on a caregiver, whether hired or family, to help with basic living activities. Deciding to hire a professional caregiver and incorporate home care into your lifestyle is a major decision. At Visiting Angels, we offer many different care services to ensure all clients are having their needs and wants met. Understanding the differences between our services and the benefits of each one can help you narrow down which caregiving service is right for you.

What Is A Caregiver?

A professional caregiver is a trained individual who provides nonmedical assistance to another person. At Visiting Angels, our caregivers provide at-home assistance, meaning they work with clients inside their homes to promote independence.

While caregivers may work alongside a home nurse or medical team, they are not medically licensed to perform medical procedures. They may not administer medication or change IVs, but they can offer medication reminders, help with household chores, and provide bathroom assistance.

What Services Does Visiting Angels Offer?

Visiting Angels is a proud home care provider. Many recognize us as one of the leading home care agencies in the nation. We’re dedicated to our clients' safety and quality of life, offering customized care services to keep seniors independent.

Companion Care

Companion care is one of our most popular services. Companion care is best for clients who can primarily care for themselves but may need help with household tasks like laundry or vacuuming. Companion care is also perfect for seniors needing transportation to an appointment or help running errands.

Providing companionship is a big part of companion care outside of household tasks and transportation. Roughly 25 percent of older adults are socially isolated. They’re not getting the daily human interactions they need, which is resulting in an increased risk of serious medical conditions like dementia. Our companion care can fill that social interaction need for seniors by spending time with them watching movies, doing crafts, going for walks, and many other activities that clients enjoy.

Personal Care

Clients who like the concept of companion care but require more hands-on assistance would benefit from our personal care services. Personal care includes all the aspects of companion care but mobility and bathroom assistance. Personal care is perfect for clients who want dignified help showering, dressing, grooming, and moving about their home.

Specialized Care

Most of our clients at Visiting Angels receive some form of companion or personalized care. However, there may be instances when a client or potential client needs specialized assistance.

  • Certified Palliative Care is for seniors living with a chronic health condition. Their condition may require specialized physical assistance. They may also benefit from emotional and mental support from our caregivers.
  • Transitional Care works with clients who are returning home after a hospital stay. The goal of transitional care is to reduce hospital readmission by ensuring clients follow their doctor’s discharge instructions.
  • Social Care is for seniors interested in using technology to connect with loved ones but need help with texting, social media, and email.
  • Dementia Care is for clients with any form of dementia, including Alzheimer’s. Caregivers providing dementia care offer personal and companion caregiving services but also focus on dementia-specific concerns, like wandering and confusion.
  • End-Of-Life Care provides physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual support to seniors entering their final life stages. Caregivers also work with loved ones to help them through this challenging transition.

Getting Started With Visiting Angels

Seniors in Northeast Ohio interested in learning more about Visiting Angels and how at-home care can benefit them should contact us to schedule a complimentary consultation. This initial meeting allows you to connect with a member of our care team to discuss how specific care options can fit into your lifestyle and schedule. This meeting is also the perfect time to ask questions and voice concerns about home care.

After the consultation, our team will develop a personalized care plan. We create each care plan to address the individual needs of each client. Once the care plan is approved, we match our clients with one of our compassionate caregivers. Matching is more than putting a client with a caregiver who fits their schedule. We take the time to assess personalities and interests to ensure our clients and caregivers can build a lasting and trusting relationship.
