Certified Palliative Care improves quality of life by focusing on seniors’ physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. This program goes beyond what many people think of when they hear the term palliative care, providing assistance and comfort regardless of life expectancy.
While most people use the terms “palliative care” and “hospice care” interchangeably, these are traditionally thought of as different types of care.
Palliative care and hospice care have many similarities. At their core, both seek to relieve discomfort and improve overall quality of life. However, hospice care is typically reserved for those who are nearing the end of life. Traditionally, palliative care is for anyone who needs care focused on their comfort and well-being, regardless of their life expectancy.
At Visiting Angels®, our Certified Palliative Care program is rooted in this traditional model of palliative care. Our goal is to enrich quality of life for all clients through specialized, non-medical care and assistance.
Certified Palliative Care is provided through our Life Care Navigation™ collection of senior care services. Life Care Navigation™ also includes end of life care, which can provide your loved one with comforting care and assistance during the end of life process.
The Visiting Angels Palliative Care Certification Program trains caregivers in a philosophy of care that is supportive, soothing, comforting, and which approaches care with a holistic mindset. We approach care with a mission of restoring hope and assisting with healing.
To do this, we focus on a wider range of care needs, including the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of those in our care.
If you have a loved in need of palliative care services, you will find the care you need through your local Visiting Angels. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about our Certified Palliative Care program and coordinate a meeting with one of our care directors in the comfort of your loved one’s home. We offer customized care plans, the ability to Select Your Caregiver®, and a compassionate, client-centered approach.
It was a lucky day for us when the Angels arrived! Our sincere thanks for the wonderful care my husband received.
