Home Care Questions & Answers

What Services Do Visiting Angels’ Caregivers Provide?

At Visiting Angels Eastern Shore, we provide tailored home care options including companion and personal care solutions designed to empower your loved one to live independently and safely at home. We offer companionship, fall prevention, grooming, dressing, bathing, toileting assistance, light housekeeping, medication reminders, meal preparation, mobility and transfer aid, and errand running.

Why Opt for In-Home Personal Care?

In-home personal care offers a host of advantages, including allowing your loved one to age in place, which refers to a person’s ability to safely grow old in their current residence, ideally their own home, a family member’s home, or an assisted-living facility. Our caregivers give personalized attention and companionship, combating isolation and supervision for difficult or risky tasks for seniors with limited mobility. Plus, opting for in-home care support is more affordable than inpatient care. Visiting Angels has caregivers near you who are ready to help across Maryland's Eastern Shore. Contact us to learn more about our flexible care plans and schedules to meet your individual needs.

Does Visiting Angels Eastern Shore Provide Home Health Care?

No. Home health care is medical care administered by a certified medical professional, typically a nurse, physical therapist, or occupational therapist. Visiting Angels’ caregivers provide personal care, and cannot administer medication or change wound dressings.

    Our personal care services:

    • help maintain independence.
    • offer companionship.
    • assist with activities of daily living, such as grooming, dressing, toileting, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and errands.

My loved one needs services but lives in an assisted living facility. Can Visiting Angels help?

Yes! Visiting Angels Eastern Shore serves seniors in assisted living facilities, and often cares for more than one person in a shift. Our caregivers can provide additional care to complement the staff at the assisted living facility, allowing seniors to stay in their current living arrangement for as long as possible, avoiding further loss of independence or more expensive care situations.

How Does the Home Care Schedule Work?

The home care schedule can be changed to ensure it meets everyone’s needs. We request that a week’s notice be given, but can accommodate more immediate or emergency changes.

Does Visiting Angels Have Experience Caring for People With Alzheimer’s Disease or Other Medical Conditions?

Yes. Visiting Angels Eastern Shore can provide support with grooming, bathing, dressing, meal preparation, errands, or simply craves companionship. While our caregivers cannot provide medical care, many have prior experience with or have training in Alzheimer’s care and care for other common conditions faced by older adults. Caregivers can monitor medical symptoms and relay them to a care coordinator, who will contact family members.

      Can I Change My Caregiver?

At Visiting Angels Eastern Shore, we understand that it often takes time for our seniors to get accustomed to having a caregiver in their homes. We understand the importance of finding a good match between our caregivers and families. To that end, we employ our Select Your Caregiver program, allowing a care coordinator to get to know your loved one and personally recommend a caregiver. Should a change of caregiver be necessary, we will do so immediately.

      How Do I Stop Services?

If you no longer need services from a Visiting Angels’ caregiver, you can request a two-week notice to cancel. If you need to decrease the number of hours/days your loved one receives care, you can make permanent schedule changes with a one-week notice.

      How Do I Get Started?

Contact your Visiting Angels Eastern Shore office at the information below to schedule a free home care consultation. A care coordinator will discuss your loved one’s needs, answer any questions, and develop a care plan based on our service recommendations. You will have the opportunity to meet your caregiver to ensure it’s a good fit for your loved one.
