Home Care in Oxford

Oxford is a charming small town in Massachusetts near Worcester and about 45 minutes west of Boston. Its wide main streets feature old Colonial homes with front porches, churches with majestic steeples, parks and playgrounds, community and senior centers, and a free public library that hosts many events for children, seniors, and everyone in between.

First settled in 1687 and officially incorporated in 1713, Oxford is rich in history and is home to the Clara Barton National Historic Site, which includes the Clara Barton House.

Clara Barton, teacher, nurse, and humanitarian best remembered for organizing the American Red Cross during the Civil War, was born in Oxford in 1821 and now rests in the North Cemetery. The Clara Barton Birthplace Museum is located in North Oxford where, after more than two centuries since her birth, the stories of her boundless mercy and commitment continue to inspire students and families who come to visit.

The town is also the birthplace of Elliot Joslin, the first doctor in the United States to specialize in diabetes and the founder of today's Joslin Diabetes Center.

Oxford used to include much of what is now Webster, on its southern border; however, both Oxford and neighboring Dudley gave portions of their land to allow the creation of Webster. Oxford is also bordered by Charlton to the west, Leicester and Auburn to the north, Millbury and Sutton to the east, and Douglas to the southeast.

Home Care in Oxford MA

Visiting Angels of Southbridge provides home care to Oxford MA, and the surrounding areas. Our in-home care services include a wide variety of non-medical services designed to provide a way for Oxford’s seniors to age in place at home.

Our caregivers take pride in providing kind and compassionate care to our clients. Our goal is to make the lives of our clients and their families easier while helping our seniors to maintain their independence.

Our home care services can be completely customized to meet the unique needs of your loved one. We offer flexible scheduling and we will work closely with you to create a care plan that everyone is comfortable with.

Our personalized approach to home care begins with our Life Care Navigation™ program, which is a collection of the various types of senior care we offer and is used as the starting point. We then customize your loved one's home care plan by adjusting existing services or adding new ones until we come up with the best plan for your family.

For example, we might start with our personal care plan, which supports seniors who need assistance with the activities of daily living. This may include help with bathing and dressing, toileting, personal hygiene, medication reminders, meal preparation, light housekeeping, shopping and errands, and transportation to appointments.

Next, we might add some of the services from our palliative care plan, which is a specialized approach to support individuals living with chronic conditions. The goal of this plan is to help enhance the quality of life using a more holistic approach to care. This may include a focus on providing comfort to alleviate physical pain, help with emotional support by instilling a sense of wellness and purpose, providing companionship and meaningful conversation, and to help boost an overall sense of inner peace.

For those living with memory-related diseases, we offer Alzheimer’s care services and dementia care. These services may include help to prevent wandering, fall prevention, and more. We are experienced at working with people with memory-related illnesses and we are adept at keeping them safe and comfortable at home in familiar surroundings.
