Susan Carman - Owner/Director

My name is Susan Carman, and my husband Michael and I are transitioning into the ownership role at Visiting Angels Acton.  I’d like to tell you a bit about my journey to Visiting Angels ownership.  As a child of two disabled parents, I was acclimated to “home care” at a very young age.  My parents were always adamant about doing everything they could to stay at home and not enter a Nursing Home.  It was something they spoke about often.  Likely due to my environment, I knew I wanted to be part of the healthcare industry from an early age. I’ve earned a Master’s degree in Healthcare Informatics and Management and have a PMP certification and a CHCIO certification.  I’ve spent 33 years of my career in healthcare information technology.  In the last 10 years, I served as a Chief Information Officer for 2 mid-size Hospital systems in New York.  While I enjoyed my time as a CIO, the most rewarding of the 33 years was the 10 years I spent in long-term elder care. 

When speaking to residents, the pervasive theme of our conversations was that they wished to be home and not in a long-term care facility.  While that is not always possible, I feel strongly that we should honor the wishes of the elderly and infirm for as long as medically possible.  I have also been a long-standing Meals on Wheels volunteer.  I have been blessed to have created wonderful, long-lasting friendships with many of the elders for whom I’ve served.   I now look forward to enhancing the lives of the elderly in Acton, MA.

Michael Carman - Owner/Director

Michael Carman is Vice President and Owner of Overfifty – 360 Corporation, where he leads business development, physical operational stewardship, and technology-driven growth across multiple Visiting Angels franchise territories. He brings over three decades of leadership experience, including a 31-year career with AT&T and 17 years of service in the U.S. Air Force and Reserves. Outside of work, Michael enjoys traveling with his wife, spending time with their dogs, tending the yard, and indulging in great seafood on Cape Cod.

Emily Feugill - Director of Operations 

Emily plays a vital part in keeping the Company updated and compliant with federal and state laws. Emily is responsible for hiring, caregiver reviews, caregiver trainings and disciplinary actions. Emily has stepped in to oversee day-to-day functions to improve the business’s quality and efficiency. Emily works with the entire team to make sure all offices run smoothly and continue to prosper.

Emily comes to Visiting Angels from the telecommunications field with many years in Human Resources. She has a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and is a Certified Dementia Practitioner among other certifications.

Mary Ellen - Office Manager 

Mary Ellen is a highly organized and detail oriented Office Manager that has been a part of Visiting Angels for many years. She aides in supporting business operations, team coordination, and fosters a productive work environment. Her role handles scheduling, team supervision, and a proactive approach to problem solving to ensure smooth day-to-day workflow. She is known for her calm and professional demeanor and is an excellent resource with open communication for our caregivers and clients.

Tina Guerin - Caregiver Mentor

Tina works in the field regularly providing care for clients, as well as provides home visits to support caregivers. She is available for any additional support needed for caregivers both new and seasoned. She is also responsible for exit interviews of staff. 

Alyssa Martinez - Lead Case Manager

Alyssa has a background in both medical care and case management, and over the years, she's developed a deep passion for helping others through some of life’s most challenging moments. Before joining Visiting Angels, Alyssa worked as a case manager supporting families navigating active addiction. She has also spent time working in group homes and care facilities, providing personal care to seniors and individuals with physical and mental disabilities.

"My work has brought me face to face with people at some of their lowest points, and I’ve been honored to help them rebuild their lives and regain their independence. I’ve collaborated with DCYF, recovery courts, doctors, lawyers, and other professionals to ensure that each client had access to the resources and support they needed to move forward." 

While she's always loved working with the elderly, her experience in facilities showed her how easily some individuals can be overlooked due to staff shortages and overwhelming caseloads. That’s why she believe so strongly in the importance of in-home care—where people receive the one-on-one attention they truly deserve.

Desiree Munnis - Full-Time Case Manager

Desiree is one of our full-time case managers who meets with families to establish services needed and performs quarterly home visits to help keep our files up-to-date as well as ensure customer satisfaction. Desiree works closely with families for any changes or recommendations that may be need for the safety of the clients. She also performs unannounced caregiver inspections.

Desiree has a background in customer service and administrative work. Before Visiting Angels, she worked at a long-term care facility for 5 years. She knew early on in her career that she had a passion for working closely with the elderly and their families.. Desiree believes that ”if a client has the tools as well as the assistance through home care services, we should honor their wishes and make every effort to see that that wish is honored”.

Renee Wagner - Marketing Manager

Renee Wagner is a marketing strategist with over 20 years of experience in brand development, digital campaigns, and community engagement. She holds a degree in Marketing and Business Management and has led both corporate and nonprofit sectors. Renee is especially passionate about working with organizations that support Veterans and underserved communities, using her skills to amplify caused that matter. A proud mom of two, she brings creativity, empathy, and real-world hustle to everything she does—whether it’s running a campaign or a carpool.
