Yet, when they settled in what would soon become Hudsonville - then, later just Hudson to avoid confusion with nearby Hendersonville - that is exactly what happened.
Now, the beautiful town in the foothills of western North Carolina is home to over 3,700 people, and because of its booming business sector and access to Caldwell Community College, the number jumps up to over 11,000 people who are there each day.

For starters, one of the first big businesses to open its doors in Hudson is the Hudson Cotton Manufacturing Company, which is now located on the National Register of Historic Places.

For the nature lover, there are plenty of parks, where in the summer you can hear live music; an annual butterfly festival; and views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
There is also the Hudson Railroad Depot Museum, where you can see the red caboose and a windmill that has been there since the 19th century.
Hudson is also in close proximity to many other beautiful towns. It is less than 15 minutes from Lenoir, Granite Falls, and Sawmills, North Carolina.
