Visiting Angels' services in demand

September 22, 2011

In the three years since Gail and Bill Lohmann started Visiting Angels, the number of clients for their professional caregivers has grown quickly. The Lohmanns opened an office at 7000 Rossmore Lane in El Dorado Hills, west of Town Center, where Visiting Angels serve western El Dorado and Amador counties and eastern Sacramento County.

Visiting Angels provides non-medical companion care for seniors and others who cannot be safely left at home to care for themselves. Angels become friends, helping with meal preparation, medication reminders, personal care, light housework and assistance with walkers and wheelchairs. They provide a free in-home care assessment and safety check to help prevent falls in the home.

Visiting Angels also provides respite care for adults who are caring for elderly parents.

Each caregiver is an experienced professional and goes through an exhaustive screening process. They are insured and bonded.

Gail Lohmann said, “We work with each family to develop an individualized care program to manage the daily needs of the family’s loved one and match those needs to the best possible caregiver. The family has the final say in the selection process.”

She sees a growing need for home health care. “Everyone benefits,” she said.

Gail began working with seniors in a nursing home at age 15. After college, she worked with the Nursing Home Association in Sacramento. “Working with seniors is in my heart,” she said.
