Visiting Angels Joins the Los Angeles Walk to End Alzheimer's

Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research, held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide. In the most recent season reported by the Alzheimer’s Association, Walk participants raised a record $100 million, with 350,000+ people taking part across the country. These funds power local support services, national research, and year-round programs for families living with dementia.

Our Role as a National Team

Visiting Angels participates nationally each year to support Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The Alzheimer’s Association has recognized Visiting Angels as a Platinum National Team, highlighting the collective effort of our locations and the families we serve. We are proud to stand with the Association and the community at events like the Los Angeles Walk.

What to expect on walk day

On Saturday, November 22, our team at Visiting Angels of Beverly Hills will join families, friends, and advocates at Exposition Park for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The walk site opens at 7:00 a.m., the welcome ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m., and the walk steps off at 9:00 a.m. The event route is about one mile, making it welcoming for all ages and abilities.

The morning opens with an inspiring ceremony and the signature Promise Garden, where participants hold color-coded flowers to honor their personal connection to the cause. After the ceremony, walkers complete a short, family-friendly route through Exposition Park. Plan for an early arrival for parking and check-in, and consider bringing water and comfortable shoes.

The Promise Garden: A Moment That Touches Us All

One of the most moving parts of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the Promise Garden ceremony. Each participant selects a colorful flower that represents their personal connection to Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. As these flowers come together, they create a powerful visual display of how deeply this disease touches our community. For our team at Visiting Angels of Beverly Hills, it is always a moment of reflection and unity — a reminder of why we walk and who we walk for.

What the Flowers Represent

  • Blue: Represents someone living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia.
  • Purple: Honors someone who has lost a loved one to the disease.
  • Yellow: Symbolizes those supporting or caring for someone with Alzheimer’s.
  • Orange: Represents people who support the vision of a world without Alzheimer’s.
  • White: Stands for hope — the dream of a future with the first survivor of Alzheimer’s.

During the ceremony, participants hold their flowers high, filling the space with color, love, and remembrance. Seeing hundreds of flowers waving together is both beautiful and humbling — a clear reminder of how many lives are touched by Alzheimer’s. It is a moment that strengthens our commitment to the families we serve and our hope for a world without Alzheimer’s disease.
