Visiting Angels provides personal care (bathing, dressing, incontinent care, medication reminders, transfer-assist), light housekeeping, errands, appointments and exercise, etc.
Our goal, however, is to help clients work towards total wellness and hence, on top of personal care, we offer emotional support like a family member would.
Our caregivers are trained to have a better understanding of the psychology of aging and mental health, as well as the client’s specific challenges. They are also coached to forge an emotional connection with the client to establish trust and hence, be able to assist the clients in achieving a level of independence realistic to their situation.
Individualized Plan of Care
Visiting Angels focuses on creating individualized Care Plans for each client because we recognize that not all people are the same. This ensures that both the physical and emotional needs of our client(s) are met.
For example, if a client has special dietary needs (low salt/fat/sugar), we make every effort to follow the dietary plan provided by the family. If a client needs to gain weight, we focus on nutritious meals. If a client needs to exercise, we think of how we could encourage movement. If a client has anxiety, we work hard to eliminate triggers.
We even provide our caregivers with specific training when necessary. As a Choice Provider for Veterans Affairs, we work with veterans suffering from PTSD and anxiety disorders, and our caregivers are trained to deal with such challenges.
