Veterans Benefits for Home Care

Visiting Angels Boerne is proud to serve those who have served. Aid and Attendance is an earned benefit program offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This service provides financial assistance to eligible veterans and their spouses who require the aid of another person or are housebound. This program also helps cover the costs of in-home care services that Visiting Angels Boerne provides.

Who is Eligible for VA benefits?

Speaking broadly, anyone who served in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces and received an honorable discharge.

Eligibility for VA Aid and Attendance and Respite benefits is determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) based on certain criteria. To be eligible, a veteran or their surviving spouse must meet the following requirements:

1.) Military Service:  The veteran must have serviced at least 90 consecutive days of active duty, with at least one day during a period of war time. The specific dates for wartime periods can be found on the VA website.

2.) Medical Condition: The applicant must have a medical condition that requires the regular assistance of another person for activities of daily living, such as:

Bathing

Dressing

Eating

Mobility

They may also be eligible if they are bedridden or have limited eyesight.

3.) Income and Assets: There are income and asset limitations for Aid and Attendance benefits. The VA considers the applicant's income, including pensions, social security, other sources, and net worth (excluding their primary residence and personal belongings).

It is important to note that meeting these eligibility criteria does not guarantee approval for Aid and Attendance benefits. The VA will review each application on a case-by-case basis. It is recommended to contact your local VA office or visit the VA website for more detailed information and assistance with the application process.

Our Community Care Provider NPI: 1871727230. This number will help your local VA office identify our location to send your authorization.

Although Visiting Angels Boerne is not a part of the approval process, we are happy to provide guidance and support. Please feel free to contact us here, a local manager is available 24/7.
