Types of VA Home Health Benefits
The Department of Veteran Affairs has several programs to help veterans and their surviving spouses pay for in-home senior care and home health care services. Each program has specific goals, requirements, and steps. As an approved veteran home care agency in Midland, TX, Visiting Angels can assist you in applying for the right program.
Aid and Attendance Program
The Aid and Attendance benefit offers financial support to veterans and surviving spouses who need help with daily activities due to age, disability, or a health condition. Qualified veterans will have completed 90 days of active service. Once enrolled, this benefit is added to the monthly VA pension, and can be used to pay for in-home care, assisted living, or nursing home care.
Homemaker and Home Health Aide (H/HHA) Program
The Home Health Aide Care Program offers in-home health care services that have been ordered by a VA physician. Eligibility requirements state that the veteran must be enrolled in the VA health care system, and also show a clinical need for types of care including daily living assistance, medication management, physical therapy, and homemaking services.
Eligibility will be determined by VA health care providers, and a care plan developed by your VA care team. Once approved, this benefit is paid out directly to home care providers to cover the cost of your care.

This way, you are more likely to be approved in time to avoid the high costs of paying out of pocket while you wait, or stretching the resources of family caregivers beyond what is wise or healthy.
