Home Care Solutions for Veterans in Marin County
Learn more about how in-home care from Visiting Angels helps veterans in San Rafael, Belvedere, Fairfax, and surrounding areas in Marin County age safely and comfortably in place
If your senior loved one is a U.S. military veteran, they have done so much to protect this country, as well as provided care and support for you over the years. As they age, they may develop mobility and cognitive issues that will make living on their own difficult. Many families assume that nursing homes or assisted living facilities are the only options when this happens. But with in-home senior care from Visiting Angels San Rafael, your loved one can continue living in their own home for as long as they wish.
How Our Home Care Services Help Veterans
Despite age-related issues, many seniors value their independence and wish to remain in their homes. Visiting Angels can make that wish a reality by providing personalized in-home senior care.
Visiting Angels specializes in providing assistance with everyday activities. Our goal is to help seniors get the support they need to stay safe, comfortable and happy at home.
Our caregivers can assist with:
- Planning and preparing meals
- Doing dishes, laundry and other light housekeeping
- Bathing, getting dressed and grooming
- Getting from room to room
- Running errands
- Toileting and incontinence care
- Feeding assistance
- Medication reminders
- And more
Unlike other home care agencies in Marin County, Visiting Angels San Rafael personalizes each care plan to fit each client’s unique needs. Whether your loved one needs a caregiver to visit for a couple hours a day or advanced care to deal with symptoms of dementia or Alzheimer’s, our team can help.
Our commitment to providing top-quality senior care for our clients – including veterans and surviving spouses – has made us the leading agency for seniors in San Rafael, Corte Madera, Mill Valley, Belvedere and surrounding communities throughout Marin County and the North Bay region.
Did you know that veterans benefits, including a monthly pension, can help cover the cost of in-home care? A benefit called Aid and Attendance can be added to a monthly pension from the VA in order to help offset the cost of care.
Elderly veterans and surviving spouses can quality for Aid and Attendance if they:
- Require assistance with activities of daily living
- Are bedridden or unable to move without assistance
- Are a patient in a nursing home
- Have specific vision limitations
Veteran Community Partnerships
Veteran Community Partnerships (VCPs) help veterans and caregivers access valuable options and resources for care. A VCP helps caregivers, veterans, VA facilities, community health providers, and home care agencies work together to provide the support and services veterans need.
Allison Larking, a Visiting Angels team member and the Regional Director of Business Development & Strategic Partnerships, SF Bay Area, is the Chairperson for the East Bay Veterans Community Partnership (EBVCP). The EBVCP was created to help raise awareness of issues concerning elderly veterans and establishing relationships between veterans and members of the community. They also provide training and education on topics related to care for veterans.

The EBVCP meets at the VA in Martinez on the second Wednesday of every month from 1:15pm -2:15pm.
