Veteran's Benefits Las Vegas

Enabling Veterans to thrive at home throughout the Las Vegas Valley, Visiting Angels is a trusted partner for senior home care services. We also understand the unique needs of veterans, and we take pride in providing them with compassionate and tailored home care services.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) provides benefits to eligible Veterans for certain home care assistance through various programs. Visiting Angels - Las Vegas is approved to provide these services to those that are eligible.

Who is Eligible for Veterans Home Care Programs?

The VA assesses eligibility by considering factors such as:

  • Service-related disabilities.
  • Income.
  • The requirement for daily living support.
  • The capacity to maintain independence at home.

It's vital to understand that qualification for this program isn't guaranteed among veterans, and the benefits offered can differ depending on the individual situations of the applicants.

Homemaker and Home Health Aide Program

The Veterans Administration operates a vital initiative known as the "Homemaker and Home Health Aide Program", designed to support veterans requiring personal care assistance and aid with daily activities. Since 2013, Visiting Angels of Las Vegas and Henderson has actively participated as a provider within this program's framework. Targeting veterans in need, especially those facing isolation or whose caregivers are overwhelmed, this program serves as a lifeline for many.

It's important to note that the Homemaker and Home Health Aide Program exclusively caters to veterans; spouses are ineligible for participation.

Through this initiative, Visiting Angels extends essential home care services, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting with showering/bathing and dressing (a fundamental requirement)
  • Meal preparation
  • Light housekeeping
  • Laundry services

Approval and determination of eligible service hours lie solely within the purview of the Veterans Administration. Funding for these services is provided by the VA, ensuring veterans receive the support they deserve.

How to get approved for the H/HHA Program?

  1. Register with a VA clinic. (Click here to fine the nearest location)
  2. See a VA Doctor.
  3. Ask the VA Doctor to recommend you for the Homemaker and Respite Program. You may want to print out this page on your computer and take it with you.
  4. Once you are approved, please choose Visiting Angels - Las Vegas as your Provider.
  5. The VA will then fax us the authorization and Visiting Angels will contact you to get started with the care.

Aid and Attendance

The Aid and Attendance program is available for the Veteran and/or their Spouse. Under this program, Visiting Angels can help with home care services such as:

  • Showering/bathing and dressing (this is required)
  • Preparing Meals
  • Light housekeeping
  • Laundry

How to get approved for Aid and Attendance Program?

If you're receiving a VA pension and meet any of the criteria outlined below, you could qualify for this valuable benefit.

You may be eligible if at least one of the following conditions applies to you:

  • You require assistance from another individual to carry out daily activities such as bathing, feeding, or dressing.
  • Due to illness, you are confined to bed or spend a significant portion of the day in bed.
  • Your mental or physical disabilities have necessitated residency in a nursing home.
  • Your vision is impaired.

Approval for this program is granted by the VA to either the veteran or their spouse. However, reaching out to Michael DiAsio at Visiting Angels (702-407-1100) can provide you with more detailed information regarding the Aid and Attendance program.
