Amie and Co-Owner/Director and husband, Kenneth Bass, lead Visiting Angels of Scotch Plains with compassion and a deep understanding of what families need most. When Amie felt compelled to do something different with her life, she followed her heart when it led her to pursue this industry. Since then, the Basses have dedicated themselves to making this Visiting Angels office a valuable resource for senior care for the residents living in our service areas around Scotch Plains. This shows in so many ways, including the way our agency is represented within the community.

Our Involvement throughout the Scotch Plains Area

At Visiting Angels Scotch Plains, we don’t just “do caregiving” – it’s who we are. Our caregivers don’t just provide in-home services, but they focus on care outside of the home, helping our clients stay involved with local groups, senior-friendly classes, and other interests. It’s this heartfelt commitment that makes our care truly personal – because to us, that’s exactly what it is. We want each client to live beyond comfortably at home, whenever possible. We take them out for bubble teas, to the theater, the library — even to Atlantic City on occasion — to integrate them into society and to let them enjoy life!

The spirit of service that defines our work often reaches beyond the homes we visit. Many of our team members volunteer their time outside of work, assisting local organizations and connecting with the communities they call home. Being locally owned helps us maintain these deep connections with seniors and other vulnerable groups in the communities we serve. Our team members who live here are familiar with the area. Many know what it’s like to assist their older family members who also want to continue aging in place.

Community Outreach

Our agency is heavily involved in the community as well. We are members of both the Woodbridge Township Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce. You can frequently find us at local events related to home care and senior wellness, in addition to speaking publicly on our own services and senior care experience at the Scotch Plains Public Library and Westfield Memorial Library. Visiting Angels of Scotch Plains (VASP) Training Academy

We also offer a New Jersey Board of Nursing-approved CHHA training program that helps individuals become certified as a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA). People who have a caring heart, are passionate about senior care, and want to make a difference have the opportunity to become CHHAs here. Those who are interested can enroll in our training and certification program through the Visiting Angels of Scotch Plains Training Academy.

Why offer our own school? Because we understand the impact it has on nurturing the future caregivers in our region. We want to foster an environment that supports and promotes excellence in home care, and VASP Training Academy provides us with another avenue to achieve this goal.
