Torrance Woman in the Running for Visiting Angels National Caregiver of the Year Award

Julie Covey Named as a Semi-Finalist for the Home Care Company’s Top Honor

(April 10, 2023) – Visiting Angels, the nation’s leading provider of senior home care, named Julie Covey of Torrance, California, as one of the 10 semi-finalists for its National Caregiver of the Year award.

The prestigious honor recognizes Visiting Angels caregivers for their overall contribution and commitment to delivering quality care to the clients and families they serve, as well as how they embody the company’s compassionate values and demonstrate excellence. The semi-finalists were selected from entries throughout the 600 Visiting Angels franchise locations across the country.

Since joining Visiting Angels of Torrance less than two years ago, Julie Covey has made quite an impression on her clients, their families, and her colleagues. Her primary role is to provide care for a husband and wife who are in their 90s.

“Julie has the patience of Mother Teresa! She understands her clients can no longer spend time out in the world alone, so she brings the world to them,” explains Marian Karons, owner of Visiting Angels of Torrance. “She is leading quite an operation to ensure her clients remain in their homes and receive everything they need and want. Julie arranges and supervises personal care, like haircuts, medication orders, and grocery deliveries. She has also been known to pick oranges from her clients’ backyard to make them fresh-squeezed juice!”

Relatives of Julie’s clients are thrilled with the service she provides. They say she selflessly exceeds expectations every day. The adjustments she has made in the lives of their parents do not just enhance the daily lives of their mother and father but also the lives of the entire family.

The Caregiver of the Year winner will be announced on Tuesday, June 27. The grand prize winner will receive a $5,000 prize. Two finalists will each receive $2,500.
