”I will never be able to express how grateful I am for these ANGELS. They cared for my mom with compassion, love, and determination. My mom truly loved her aids and it gave me such a feeling of relief to know she was in their hands. From the bottom of my heart, I don't know what I would have done without them.”

When the Juggling Act is Too Much

In our experience as family caregivers ourselves, we have found that we often struggled between juggling our own needs with the needs of our loved one. You probably found that your own needs fell by the wayside somewhere along this process too.

Respite care provides short-term care, so you can have any breaks and time-off that you need. At the same time, you can be confident that your loved one is receiving professional personal care you can trust.

Our caregivers are trained to alleviate your family members of these home care tasks. We provide comfort, companionship, and a calm presence in the home; both for the client and for their family.

We also give family caregivers a chance to sleep, go home to their own kids, or simply sit beside their loved one as their son or daughter; instead of being a nurse. Our respite care includes assistance with many different tasks around the home, including:

Meal preparation and planning
Light housekeeping
Medication reminders
Friendly companionship
Reliable transportation
Dressing and bathing assistance

FAQs

Will the same caregiver be coming if I sign up for ongoing respite services?

Yes, if you sign up for an ongoing care plan, we would assign a single caregiver to your loved one. We keep the same caregivers with a client whenever possible. If your assigned caregiver is ever out, we’ll let you know ahead of time (if possible) and we’ll assign a back-up in her place who will be de-briefed about your loved one’s details, care plan and preferences.

How do I know that I can trust the person coming into the home?

Every caregiver we send is an employee of Visiting Angels, not an independent contractor. That means we maintain ongoing oversight of the care they provide.

Every caregiver we send is our employee, not a contractor - which means there is ongoing oversight on their quality of care. We background-check our candidates before hire and they are trained before they ever visit a client. You can meet your caregiver first, before the care plan starts and ask any questions then too.

We have a long history of sending reliable caregivers out to residents in East Cincinnati as we have been running our agency here since 2009. We have some caregivers who’ve been on board with us for years!

Is there a report or anything to let me know how things go when I’m away?

Yes, we communicate how our visits went with our client’s family caregiver. Some ask only for a quick text message, while others prefer to chat over the phone. We can also take notes and leave those for you after every visit too. If you explain to us what details and information you’d like us to monitor for you, just let us know and we’ll keep track for you while you’re away.
