⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
”Visiting Angels was wonderful in sending a compassionate and competent home care professional. The Largo office staff was warm and caring. They explained the services and cost to use their program. I was very pleased”.
~ Renee D.
A client of ours, Clare, has anterior ischemic optic neuropathy that left her blind in her right eye. By the time her adult daughter called us for help, Clare was also struggling with radial nerve damage in both wrists limiting her ability to button a blouse, open a jar of peanut butter or pull her hair back.
Clare wanted to stay in her house in Largo, she wasn’t willing to move in with her daughter or to a senior living facility. Rather, she was open to allowing someone to come in, help her with the things she couldn't manage on her own, and otherwise let her live her life independently.
With home care services, Visiting Angels in Largo helps older adults with personal care, companionship, memory care, and whatever else it takes for your loved one to remain comfortably at home!
Home Care Services for Largo Seniors
Families who are considering home care services for their aging parent often make the mistake of jumping to assisted living communities or nursing homes in the area. While these options may be the right call for some, a lot of seniors (most of them, in our experience) don't want to leave home.
Home care makes it possible for seniors to stay. Our care plans are built for your loved one’s needs. We develop a plan by combining services like bathing and shower assistance, dressing, grooming, mobility help, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, transportation to appointments, and companionship.
Here’s a closer look at some examples of care we can provide:
Senior Companionship
Seniors like Clare who was widowed several years ago face risks living in such isolation. It is well-documented in the research that loneliness in our elderly population directly contributes to a faster decline in their health and well-being. A companion caregiver visits a client to have meaningful conversation, offer encouragement, and keeps a person’s spirits up by joining in with activities they love. Clare's caregiver shares meals with her, and she really appreciated that! We would also handle light housekeeping, errands, and transportation as part of companion care visits.
Memory Care
Our owner, Vicki, is a certified Dementia Coach and Dementia Trainer, which means memory care here at Visiting Angels isn't just a checkbox. We deeply understand how Alzheimer's disease and dementia progresses, and we train our caregivers thoroughly according to the stages. We assign a consistent caregiver with training and experience to each case. This builds trust over time.
Bed-Bound Care
We provide hygiene assistance, repositioning, cooking and feeding meals along with companionship for seniors or disabled adults who are now bed-bound. We train caregivers on using apparati like Hoyer Lifts as well.
About Our Senior Care Agency
Visiting Angels of Largo has been providing non-medical home care service to seniors in the Largo since 2001! Our office is locally owned and operated by Vicki Kalitsi, who spent years as a regional administrator for a hospital before opening our senior care agency. Her healthcare background means we have exceptional hiring standards, care coordination and caregiver accountability when it comes to sending our Angels into clients’ homes for care. Our caregivers visit clients who live in Largo and nearby communities in Prince George's County.
Your Loved One’s Home Care Needs
Before we build your care plan, we need to understand the full picture by talking with you and/or your loved one directly. We like to involve the family if appropriate, and may also coordinate with any skilled nurses or doctors involved in their health care.
Clare's situation is a good example of how we build a home care plan. Because her vision loss made certain tasks risky like driving, we made sure to include that her caregiver would take her out for errands or doctor visits. Since Clare had difficulty using her hands, we included grooming (she loves having her hair and nails done), meal preparation and companionship. Those things made such a difference in her mood and daily life.
That's how we approach every client. We build a plan around the individual’s needs. You will always have final say on care decisions.

Let’s Build a Home Care Plan Together
If you've read this far, you're probably past the point of wondering whether your loved one needs help. The question now is how to move forward without making them feel like they're losing control of their own life. That's a common concern from the families we speak with.
Your first step is to schedule a free in-home consultation. We will come to you, talk about your loved one's situation and build a care plan together. Clare's daughter made that call on a Tuesday afternoon, and Visiting Angels started the following week!
Every caregiver we hire has undergone our rigorous hiring process that includes personality tests, background checks, and reference verification. Caregivers receive onboarding training before working with clients, and many join us with previous healthcare or caregiving experience. We look for people who are dependable, skilled and most importantly, caring!

Home Care FAQs
What types of home care services do you offer Largo residents?
Visiting Angels provides non-medical home care services including personal care, companion care, memory care, respite care, and post-hospital transitional care. Our services are tailored to each client's specific needs and schedule requirements.
Can we choose our caregiver?
Yes, we encourage families to meet our caregivers before care begins! If the fit isn't right, we can find a different caregiver who is.
What if my loved one has Alzheimer's or dementia?
Memory care is a core program of our home care services. Vicki Kalitsi is a certified Dementia Coach and Dementia Trainer, and she makes sure our memory caregivers are highly trained. We assign consistent caregivers to all clients, but especially memory care clients, for familiarity's sake to help reduce confusion over time.
Are your home care services less expensive than assisted living services?
In most cases, yes. With home care, you pay only for the visits you schedule instead of a monthly facility rate. Creating a care schedule that fits your budget can also help reduce overall costs.
What is the Home Care Provider of Choice Award?
The Home Care Provider of Choice Award is based on feedback collected from clients and caregivers. Visiting Angels in Largo has received this award multiple times. We are proud of this recognition because it reflects the quality of our care and our clients' satisfaction.
