If you're a local veteran in need of home care, the Department of Veterans Affairs (the VA) might cover your costs through certain programs. Visiting Angels in Las Vegas has worked as an approved home care provider with the VA for many years. Do You Qualify for VA Home Care?

Getting approved isn't automatic. The VA has to review your situation first. They're looking at things like

• Injuries or health problems from during your military service
• How much money you earn
• What kind of help you need around the house
• Whether you can still live on your own

Every veteran's case is different, so there's no guarantee you'll get approved or what services you'll receive.

The Homemaker and Home Health Aide Program (H/HHA)

Back in 2013, we started helping veterans through this VA program. We've seen firsthand what a difference it can make for veterans who experience difficulty getting around the house by themselves because their kids live across the country, or whose spouse passed away. The VA will decide if you're approved, and how many hours you get. They also pay for it.

What do our caregivers actually do? Well, you have to need help with bathing or getting dressed to qualify in the first place. From there, we can cook your meals, tidy up around the house, and take care of your laundry too.

The Aid and Attendance Program

Unlike the H/HHA program that only covers veterans, Aid and Attendance covers spouses too. Visiting Angels provide the same basic home care by helping with bathing and dressing (which you must need to qualify), plus we'll cook, do light cleaning, help you move around safely, and handle the laundry.

Getting Aid and Attendance Benefits:

If you already receive a VA pension, that is the starting point. From there, you need to show you can't handle basic daily tasks like washing yourself, getting dressed, or eating meals without help. Maybe you're stuck in bed most days because of health issues, or you've had to move into a care facility because you can't manage at home anymore.

• Did the veteran serve during wartime? Which war?
• If the veteran has passed away and the spouse needs care, were they married when the veteran died?
