Factors Influencing Home Care Costs

The cost of home care services is typically influenced by several key factors, each playing a significant role in determining the overall expenses.

  • ๐Ÿง‘‍โš•๏ธThe level and type of care required is a primary consideration, whether it's basic companion care and assistance with daily activities or specialized care, contributes to the overall pricing structure.

  • ๐Ÿ“Location is another pivotal factor influencing home care costs. While we do cover most of the entire Las Vegas valley, outlying areas may affect the rates for caregiving services.

  • ๐Ÿ“…The frequency of in-home care sessions, whether it's occasional assistance or daily support, is a crucial determinant as well.

Understanding these factors allows us to provide transparent and customized cost structures, ensuring that our clients receive the level of care they need in a manner that aligns with their unique requirements and financial considerations.

How Our Home Care Costs Are Structured

The cost of Visiting Angels home care in Henderson and Las Vegas starts as low as $30.50 per hour, depending on the program and amount of hours needed. Weekend and evening hours are typically a few dollars more.

Our home care options include:

  • Individual Weekly Scheduled Service Program
  • The As Needed Service Program
  • The Couples Care Weekly Service Program
  • 1-Hour Per Service

What is the Minimum Number of Hours Required Per Visit?

Overwhelmingly, most home care agencies’ hourly prices are roughly the same, but what seniors need to also ask is "what is the minimum service?". For Visiting Angels in Henderson and Las Vegas, the minimum service is only one hour per service. Most agencies require four hours. For seniors who need less than four hours of care per service, this is a big savings for them.

What is the Weekly Minimum Number of Hours Required?

In addition, most other home care agencies in Southern Nevada have a minimum of 10 or 15 hours per week required. Visiting Angels has only 6 hours per week. Again, this is a big savings for seniors. Some clients have us come twice a day such as two hours in the mornings and 2 hours in the evening to be there for important daily tasks. Other agencies may require that the caregiver be there all day and have the client pay for all day.

Flexible scheduling that saves seniors money and fits their lifestyle.

Lastly, for clients who do not need even six hours per week of care, we have the As Needed option or the 1 Hour Per Visit option available where seniors can reduce their overall cost considerably. Visiting Angels in Las Vegas offers these options because we are extremely respectful of seniors' budgets and we have roughly 300 outstanding and dedicated caregivers who have been with an average of four and one-half years. These are some of reasons why we have been voted Best of Las Vegas Home Care.

Visiting Angels Cost Per Month

At Visiting Angels Las Vegas, each client’s needs during their visits are different. Here are a few, clear examples of some of our clients' home care plans along with the home care costs involved on a monthly basis. Some families find that paying for in-home care is more cost-effective than relocating to assisted living.

Nancy, Sun City Anthem

Nancy is 85 and lives in Sun City Anthem. She needed help in the mornings but needed to keep costs at a minimum. After going over everything with our Henderson office care coordinator, she signed up a program within her budget consisting of 6 hours a week at $32.50 an hour.

Her caregiver goes to visit in the mornings because that's when she needs help the most. Visits are spread out through the week so Nancy can get help with her shower every other day. The caregiver also helps her get dressed, cook breakfast and see if she needs anything else that day like a run to the grocery store and back or a load of laundry done.

Weekly hours: 6 hours
Monthly hours: approximately 26 hours
Monthly cost at $32.50/hour: $845

Patricia, Green Valley

Patricia is an 88-year-old widow living independently in her Green Valley single family home. After her minor stroke last year, she came home from the hospital with less mobility than she used to have. Her daughter, who's working full-time as a teacher for the Clark County School District, contacted our Henderson office to see about coverage from a caregiver on weekday afternoons.

Our caregiver visits Patricia 5 times a week for 5 hours each day for companion care and personal care to help her with

  • Bathing and dressing
  • Medication reminders
  • Laundry and dusting
  • Cook her lunch and dinner on weekdays
  • Transportation for doctor appointments and errands
  • Good conversation to pass the time
  • Help with her grocery shopping

Weekly hours: 25 hours
Monthly hours: approximately 108 hours
Monthly cost at $30.50/hour: $3,294

Robert, Summerlin

Robert is a 94-year-old man who’s living with moderate arthritis in his hands, and early-stage heart failure. He lives with his daughter-in-law, who serves as his primary caregiver but she has two teenage sons both involved in high school sports (soccer, football and baseball). She needed her weekends free so she could cheer them on at their games. She also needed time where she could do errands without worrying.

Our respite care services for Robert meant weekend visits on every Saturday and Sunday for 10 hours each day. During these visits, our caregivers help him with:

  • Preparing meals that meet Robert’s proper nutritional needs
  • Assistance with his personal hygiene needs
  • Monitoring his condition and medication reminders
  • Light exercise and mobility assistance
  • Activities like puzzles and watching his favorite westerns
  • Companionship throughout the day

Weekly hours: 20 hours
Monthly hours: approximately 87 hours
Monthly cost at $30.50/hour: $2,653.50

This respite care arrangement has been helpful for their family’s harmony and preventing caregiver burnout while Robert still gets consistent care.
