Are you an Experienced CNA or Caregiver Looking for Meaningful Work?
Are you tired of working a job that doesn’t take advantage of your greatest strengths?
If you are reading this article, chances are you are a caring, compassionate person who wants to make a difference in the lives of others. You might have experienced frustration or dissatisfaction with previous work situations, where you didn’t get to do what you really love… helping others.
At Visiting Angels, we offer a different kind of opportunity!
Focus on Humans, while following Rules and Regulations
One of the biggest complaints we hear from CNA’s who join our Caregiver team is that they spent too much time in previous jobs filling out forms, stocking supplies, hurting your back by lifting up to 50 pounds, working long hours and running between 20 patients or more … and not enough time actually helping the patients or establishing a one-to-one connection.
As an in-home caregiver, your energy and attention is focused on the needs of the person in front of you, not hospital administration or thoughtless co-workers.
Of course, hospitals are important, and some people do thrive in these organizational settings. But if you’re the kind of person who really wants to focus on patient care, this could be just the opportunity you’re looking for!
Set Your Own Hours, Work At Your Own Pace
Most support jobs in the medical field require long hours, constant standing and moving, and a never-ending to-do list of thankless chores. Not here, though! A caregiver job with Visiting Angels means flexibility and choices. We work around your schedule, and make sure that the assignments you take are the kind of care you want to provide.
Do you take pride in your ability to comfort those facing the serious issues posed by Alzheimer’s and dementia? If so, you will have that kind of opportunity.
Or maybe you’d rather spend your time reading and talking to someone recovering from surgery, with some light household duties thrown in. Perfect! We have many patients in need of respite care.
Whatever you want to provide in the way of in-home care, we will match you to the right situation. With Visiting Angels, you are in control of your work life.
How to Transition from a CNA or Facility Caregiver Career to Working As An In-Home Caregiver
Even better, you don’t have to leave your current career as a CNA or caregiver to get started with in-home care.
Since our hours are flexible, you can work around your full-time schedule. Once you see how much you enjoy this work, you can move into full time with Visiting Angels if need be. Otherwise just enjoy the revenue brought in by an extra part-time job. Or just continue with the more relaxed pace of in-home care as a welcome break from your stressful, less-fulfilling regular job. Some of our caregivers are retired professional that enjoy the supplemental income—they still “want to be in services” but they do not have to lift more than 25 pounds!
Perfect For Downshifting or Semi-Retired RN/LPN
Let’s face it. As we get older, the demands of a full-time nursing job can wear us down.
Some of our in-home Caregivers are longtime professionals in the field who want to scale back their career commitments, without leaving the field entirely. If you want to stay involved with patients and get away from the less enjoyable parts of full-time nursing, this could be an ideal fit for you.
