About Visiting Angels

In 1983, Joe Arduino was introduced to home care first hand;his father was dying of congestive heart failure. The compassion Joe’s father received from the Hospice Aide who cared for him would always be remembered with appreciation and admiration. Joe would never forget the caring spirit and quality of work the Aide provided for his father, as if he were her a member of her own family.

In 1999, Joe learned of an opportunity to become a member of a national network of homecare agencies. For Joe, his memories of the superb care his father received came flooding back along with a desire to help others in the same way. Later that year, Joe became the 9th Visiting Angels Franchise. Today, the network has grown to encompass over 400 agencies serving families across the United States, Canada and internationally.

From the very beginning it has been important to Joe that the caregivers he employs be like the one who cared for his father. Joe requires his staff to ask themselves when meeting an applicant if they would feel comfortable letting that person care for their own parents. As fate would have it, soon after he began his business, Joe’s mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and required help from Visiting Angels. Joe was confident and comfortable allowing his own Visiting Angels’ caregivers provide care for his mom. That care has continued for over 10 years to this day.

It is clear that family has always been an important concept in Joe’s Visiting Angels franchise. Therefore, it wasn’t a surprise when in 2001 Joe asked his wife Michele, a Postmaster with the United States Postal Service, to become a Managing Partner and take an active role in the business. Michele manages Accounting, Human Resources, Compliance and Quality Assurance within the company. Michele’s hard work, experience and attention to details have greatly contributed to the steady growth and success that Visiting Angels experiences today.

In the past 12 years, Visiting Angels has helped over 1200 seniors maintain a sense of independence, dignity and quality of life in their own home setting. While Visiting Angels has grown since 1999, they continue to build lasting relationships by offering that same, family-like compassionate care that Joe’s mother and father received in their greatest times of need.
