How To Get Started With Elderly Care in the Greater Aiken, SC Area
At Visiting Angels of Aiken, We Provide Families with the Necessary Tools That They Need to Get Started With Our Elderly Care
How do we, Visiting Angels of Aiken, provide your loved one with the best elderly care possible? We first set up a meeting with the client and their family in person, to better understand their needs and requests. Typically, a care coordinator will set up a free, in home meeting to assess your loved one, evaluating the level of care required. Additionally, at this time, we also review preferred schedules and address any other concerns.
At this meeting, it’s also an excellent opportunity to get to know each other, and we encourage clients and families to ask as many questions as they would like. If you are feeling overwhelmed, our care coordinator can certainly make recommendations as they have ample experience with regards to what may or may not work in certain situations.
During the initial meeting, we normally discuss the following elderly care topics:
- Physical Needs: We go over your loved one’s specific physical needs, pertaining to such necessities as bathing, grooming, feeding, dressing, diet, meals, incontinence, and mobility.
- Care Schedules: We review care schedules, in particular, medicine, eating, and sleeping specifics.
- Emotional Needs: We go over emotional needs, such as companionship, social interaction, activities, conversations, and appointments.
- Specific Assistance: We talk about any other specific homemaking requirements that are necessary, such as meal preparation, grocery shopping, laundry, linens, and light housekeeping.
Schedule Logistics: Also, we address the logistics of care schedules, as well as documentation, access to the home, as well as taking the time to go over the details of how to work with scheduling changes for clients, caregivers, and the office.
