Palliative Care Services

Does your senior loved one need help managing their pain? While some people believe that palliative care is only offered at the end of life, there are differences between palliative and hospice care. In actuality, palliative care services are available to any seniors who wish to better cope with their chronic pain and discomfort, not just those in end-of-life care or last days care programs. At Visiting Angels of Northern Shenandoah Valley, we offer a specialized non-medical palliative care program to address seniors’ physical, emotional, social, and spiritual discomfort. We strive to enhance their seniors’ overall quality of life and offer peace of mind to their families, all without requiring seniors to leave the house.

"I can't say enough about the quick and knowledgeable response to our needs relating to my elderly mother. I would not hesitate to recommend the agency!"

—J.L., Former Visiting Angels of NSV Client

Palliative Home Care Services

We understand that chronic pain and discomfort affect seniors in both physical and non-physical ways. Because of this, our Certified Palliative Care program utilizes a broader, more holistic approach to pain management. Our caregivers focus on several different types of wellnesses, including:

  • Physical
Assisting with physical symptoms and helping reduce pain
  • Emotional
Helping seniors work through complex emotions associated with their chronic condition, such as anger, fear, or sadness
  • Social
We help seniors stay social by engaging them in meaningful conversation and accompanying them to social events
  • Spiritual
Our caregivers help seniors cultivate inner peace and purpose while helping families find peace of mind during a challenging time

Though our in-home care providers do not administer medical services, we will work with your loved one’s healthcare team to provide essential non-medical services. Our caregiving staff can remind your loved one of appointments and provide them with transportation. We can even provide care to your loved one who is currently in a nursing home or assisted living community or offer respite care services to assist family caregivers.
