Celebrating 100 Years with Mr. Cocchi
July 15th, 2020 was a special day for the Visiting Angels team as we celebrated Mr. Cocchi’s 100th birthday! Mr. Cocchi, who is a World War 2 Veteran and a previous teacher and principal at Elias Brookings School in Springfield, MA, celebrated the special day with his wife and dozens of local community members!
We have been honored to be Mr. Cocchi 24/7, 365-day Caregiver for the past several years. We are also happy to have been able to spend time (socially distant of course) with him and his wife. There were dozens in attendance for his birthday parade, including the Wilbraham Fire Department, Police Department and local Ambulance. Visiting Angels of West Springfield also attended with his many past and current Caregivers as they came to celebrate his big day.
After the end of WW2, Mr. Cocchi married his wife in 1951 and also purchased his first home in the Greater Springfield area, the same home he lives in today! He also became a beloved elementary school teacher at Elias Brookings School and later became the principal after working his way up the ranks. He later retired in the 1980’s (yes, you read that right, he has been retired for over 30 years!) and has since been spending time with his wife and enjoying his many hobbies.
We are proud to be able to serve Mr. Cocchi and his wife and thank him for his continued support and his time as a World War 2 Navy Veteran! Here’s to 100 years of smiles and love! Thank you, Mr. Cocchi!!!
