COVID-19 Caregiver Training

The Coronavirus Pandemic is a once in a century occurrence that has caused mayhem, panic and unfortunately, many more fatalities than we could have ever imagined.  As the virus continues to spread rapidly throughout the World, we at Visiting Angels of West Springfield have worked to take extra precautions and care when tending to our many clients.  Our 60+ Caregivers have all undergone specific COVID-19 training including learning through an online platform and mini-quiz that certifies they have completed the training.

This training is not just any run of the mill concept; but instead is a lengthy and thorough training specifically for Caregivers, CNA’s and HHA’s.  The training covers everything from the basics we have all been told, to the thorough process of how to properly clean different areas and even how to care for pets during these unusual times.

We have taken this pandemic seriously from the start and have been a pioneer in Hampden County for in-home care with the steps we take to ensure our Caregivers and Clients safety.  We are proud to work with some of the most caring and thoughtful Caregivers and want to make sure we keep them safe while they are working with your family or loved one.  To do so, we ask that you follow these guidelines if you have a scheduled appointment with our Caregivers:

• Disinfect main surfaces throughout the home including door handles, cabinet handles, seats, railing, and other common surfaces
• Wear a face covering or mask for the entire duration of the visit
• If possible, take a shower or wash down before the Caregiver arrives and put on a fresh pair of clothes
• Wash your hands just before your Caregiver is scheduled to arrive
• Keep hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes handy during the visit

These are just a few of the many steps we can take to help keep everyone safe and well protected during this outbreak.
