Quality Home Care Services in Frankenmuth, Saginaw, MI, & Nearby Areas
In-home senior care is becoming an increasingly popular and preferred alternative to assisted living facilities or nursing homes. Many aging adults wish to remain in their homes as they age, and a professional care agency can allow them to do just that. But how can families finance the type of quality home care services their loved one wants and needs?
A Guide for Financing Our Quality Home Care Services for Your Loved One in Frankenmuth, Saginaw, Bay City, Clio, Essexville, Birch Run, and Throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region of Michigan
Visiting Angels Frankenmuth provides private pay options for quality home care services throughout the Great Lakes Bay area of Michigan. This means that in most instances, clients pay for services privately, out-of-pocket. However, there are benefits your loved one may be eligible for that can help cover some of the cost of professional care at home.
Veterans Benefits
Our Frankenmuth office is an approved provider of Home Health Aide (HHA) & Respite visits as a benefit to Veterans for their service. These benefits are coordinated through the Saginaw Veterans Administration.
HHA visits are provided to help a Veteran remain in their home by assisting with everyday needs. Respite visits are designed to relieve the primary caregiver for a short period of time. Both types of visits are very important to your loved one’s overall plan of care.
Through these programs, Veterans may receive the following quality home care services:
- Eating, dressing, and bathing
- Cooking meals, cleaning, and doing laundry
- Medication reminders, incontinence care, and monitoring
- Help with running errands and getting to appointments
- Companionship, ambulation, and transfer assistance
HHA and Respite are billed directly to the Veterans Administration, not the senior Veteran. This can greatly assist with the cost of care for a family. If your mom, dad, or other aging relative is a U.S. military Veteran, reach out to the Saginaw VA to explore their eligibility for these benefits.
Long-Term Care Insurance
Most traditional health and medical insurance plans do not cover long-term home care services. However, there is a specific insurance policy called long-term care insurance which will cover a senior’s future care needs.
The cost of the policy and its benefit to the policyholder will vary. If someone already requires care, it is unlikely that they will qualify for long-term care insurance. In most cases, this type of policy is taken out by adults in their 40s and 50s in an effort to begin saving for future care needs.
Check with your loved one and their insurance broker to see if this type of policy had been established. Long-term care insurance can cover a variety of in-home senior care services, medical care, and specialist care.
Privately, Out of Pocket
For seniors who do not receive Veterans benefits or hold a long-term care insurance policy, home care services are financed privately. Some families will pay from their income, savings, or by sharing expenses. The important thing to know about private pay is that you have options.
The first step we take when a new family comes to us is to complete a free in-home consultation. We will discuss our quality home care services, assess your loved one’s needs, and create a customized plan of care. Together, we can then create a care schedule to determine what days and for how many hours your loved one needs assistance.
During this consultation, we will discuss the cost of care and possible financial resources for your family. At that point, you and your family can decide how to proceed. At Visiting Angels, we are dedicated to providing quality home care services for seniors in their homes.
