Lisa and Mario Machado - Visiting Angels Owners

Lisa and Mario opened their Visiting Angels franchise in 2005 after each having 20 years business experience with major corporations. Each have undergraduate and graduate degrees. They bring to their organization many business skills and talents, with a desire to operate the most professional home care agency, providing personalized service to families within the community.  Mario and Lisa joke about "having to work together" but Mario is good at all of the areas of business that Lisa is not good at and Lisa may be she is good at all of the things that Mario may not be good at?  Either way, together, they make a pretty good team.

Although the hiring process for caregivers at Visiting Angels is lengthy and all staff has a say in who comes on board, Lisa and Mario are directly responsible for their staff.  They personally approve each hired caregiver. They also enjoy meeting with as many of their clients as possible.  They often find creative solutions for families that may be struggling with a unique situation. Lisa and Mario understand it is difficult for families to have “strangers” come into their home and they recognize that there is an appropriate and professional way to bring assisted living services into the home. This professionalism is evident through the way they operate on a day to day basis.

Lisa and Mario are sympathetic to the often traumatic situations occurring with chronic illnesses, dementia related issues and the end of life process of a loved one. Like most of you, their parents also had illnesses such as cancer, arthritis, pulmonary disease, and leukemia.  Like most of you, they know the challenges that come with a sick family member - mobility issues, loss of independence, stress in the home, changing family dynamics .... and the list goes on.  As a result, they are extremely under understanding and knowledgeable about the changing needs of the care recipient.

Lisa and Mario are available for family consulting about senior solutions.  They do not profess to be an expert in everything, but their many years of home care experience have helped countless families over the years. There is no charge for any consulting.  They are truly interested in getting you the information you need at the critical time you need it, whether it includes home care services from Visiting Angels or not.   Education of alternatives for elderly care is a passion of theirs and they do not believe you should have to pay for a consult or for information.

Lisa and Mario have been married for 24 years.  In their spare time, they most enjoy family and friends. They are active members in their church, St. Peter Chanel, in Roswell.  They attempt to "stay young" to keep up with their growing three children who are so full of life and have many interests! The entire family likes to be outside as much as possible  – camping, boating, hiking, backpacking and the beach.  Cuban meals are a favorite of Mario's, so Lisa has had to learn how to make a good Ropa Vieja.  A good nap is quite rare, but highly treasured when it occurs.  Don't worry, the naps NEVER occur in the middle of a work day!  ; )

Ron Rankin - Senior Care Representative

With a solid sales background of 40 years, Ron believes in marketing something he believes in. And, he is a big fan of Visiting Angels.

He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and a retired sales manager of Sunshine Biscuits inc. He has been on the road telling people about our services since we opened. Home care is not something to be “sold” like a product. It is a service that people must believe in and trust before they purchase. Home care is personal, private and usually sensitive regarding the emotions associated with those chronically ill. Ron understands this and does a wonderful job of conveying the compassion which exists within the organization.

Ron doesn’t spend much time in the office! Because of this, his face is easily recognized as he visits local businesses such as pharmacies, rehabilitation centers and doctor’s offices. He lets them know that Visiting Angels is here to help their customers. He distributes brochures and educational information and meets with many people who may have questions about how Visiting Angels may be different from other home care agencies. When Ron does come into the office, the first thing he usually does is hug the ladies!

Ron has been married 49 years. He and his lovely wife have two adult children and two grandchildren. Munson, a very large dog, is a very good buddy of his. Ron’s favorite past times are golf, fishing and hunting.

Karen Stapleton, R.N. - Assessments and Care Plan Supervision

Joining our team in 2014, Karen brings to our team a wealth of home care experience! You will meet Karen when it is time for a nurse assessment as all of our care recipients are RN supervised. Karen truly enjoys meeting all of our care recipients and has a wonderful smile and gentle manner.

Karen began her nursing career in 1979. She holds a nursing degree from Dekalb Community College, Clarkston, Georgia. Although she is a native Georgian, she enjoyed living in Florida for twenty years where she also completed ongoing education at Edison College in Fort Myers, Florida. In her career, Karen has worked within a vast array of environments including internal medicine, infectious diseases and surgical recoveries. Her clinical work experience at Emory University Hospital involved patients with cancer, vascular, orthopedic, ophthalmic and gynecological surgeries. Karen’s extensive background ensures that the care being provided is most appropriate.

In her personal time, Karen enjoys spending time with her three grown children. She also enjoys trying new foods at different restaurants with her friends. She loves to read and garden. When she really wants to escape, she visits the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Her favorite place to go is Asheville, NC.

Karen loves all furry creatures, but especially her three cats, her 10 pound rescue dog “Nugget” and horses. She is an active member of Alpharetta First United Methodist Church.

We are so fortunate to have Karen on our team of angels. She has tremendous experience and is a great resource for our office staff and caregivers, but also for all of our care recipients and their families as well. She is a pleasure to work with, has a wonderful smile, peaceful demeanor and we absolutely love having her on our team of angels!

Katrina Morciglio - Client Care Scheduler

Katrina has joined the Visiting Angels team as Care Scheduler in 2017. Her primary role is making sure that all of our care recipients have a caregiver when they need one – scheduling, scheduling and more scheduling.   At Visiting Angels, it is a matchmaking process - not an electronic  "grab shifts and run" process. We are interested in having a long term working relationship with our caregivers so a good match allows our angels to enjoy their job while ensuring great service to our families. Katrina brings to us much experience from her previous customer service roles.  She loves working with people!

Originally from New York, she worked as a Peer Visitor and Counselor for Casita Maria Home bound, Inc. This is where she was initially introduced to home care services as she visited the home bound elderly, made follow up calls regarding care, and ensuring the safety of the care recipients.  Administratively, she maintained documentation, coordinated with staff, and monitored caseloads. She also participated in many community and fund raising events.

Katrina has excellent computer and verbal and written communication skills.  Her experience from working in a call center demonstrates the importance of this, as well as follow up and customer service.

Katrina has a friendly and warm personality, which is a requirement at Visiting Angels! We know you will find her very easy to work with easy to talk to.   She is a joy to have in the office.

Having family in Georgia, she relocated from New York in 2011.  She loves to spend time with family, enjoys baking and considers herself a "Pinterest Fanatic." Her two dogs, Susie and Leo are very special to her.

Each Visiting Angels agency is a franchise that is independently owned and operated. The Franchisor, Living Assistance Services Inc., does not control or manage the day to day business operations of any Visiting Angels franchised agency.
