Visiting Angels of Auburn Congratulates Shirley for Being an Exceptional Caregiver
Shirley has worked for Visiting Angels of Auburn for 14 years. She held numerous related positions prior to Visiting Angels of Auburn including working at Easter Seals, as a facilities coordinator at a nursing home, and as a medical secretary. Shirley heard about our agency through a co-worker and the rest is history!
The Joys of Providing Care
When asked about her favorite part of her position, she mentioned that she really enjoys her current client- after having time to get acquainted they enjoy each other's sense of humor and get along well.
The Challenges of Providing Care
Shirley says the challenge of being a caregiver is not fully knowing what you will be faced with when first asked to start a new case. She shared the importance of making sure you really care about the person you are working with. You can do this by getting to know their individualized routine, getting to know them as an individual, and combine these two things to make a routine for the two of you to complete together. Clients may have more than one caregiver but being able to build your own rapport and way of working with that person is important.
