In-Home Care Consultation with Visiting Angels Palm Beach Gardens

As you begin exploring senior care options for your loved one, you probably have a lot of questions. Issues such as costs, scheduling, services and caregiver qualifications might be on your mind. It can be overwhelming. Is in-home care the best choice for you?

At Visiting Angels Palm Beach Gardens, we're here to help you understand in-home care and get started with care for your loved one. An in-home consultation provides an opportunity to learn about our services. A care coordinator will come to your loved one’s home and answer your questions. Plus, the coordinator will get to know you and your loved one to understand specific care needs. Your no-cost, no-obligation consultation will provide expert guidance to help you navigate the decision-making process. It’s the first step to getting the compassionate care you need.

How Should I Prepare for My In-Home Consultation?

Before your consultation, let your loved one know that you are considering hiring a professional caregiver. The decision to hire professional senior care can be a sensitive, emotionally charged issue and may be met with objections. If your loved one resists the idea, be sure to listen to their opinions and concerns. Emphasize that their health and well-being are your top priorities.

Also, think about specific care needs. What time of day does he or she typically need assistance? What tasks are the most challenging? Also, review your financial situation in advance, so you know how much to budget for in-home care. It’s a good idea to bring a list of questions and concerns to cover during the consultation.

What Topics Will be Discussed During the Consultation?

Our compassionate care coordinators at Visiting Angels Palm Beach Gardens are skilled at putting seniors and family caregivers in Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, Juno Beach and surrounding communities at ease, especially when discussing sensitive issues like personal hygiene.

Topics to cover might include:

  • Personal Care: meal planning and preparation; light housekeeping; errands and transportation to appointments; mobility assistance; medication reminders; and personal hygiene (bathing, dressing, toileting)
  • Social Care: social interactions; companionship; help with modern technology such as email, search engines and video chat programs to stay in touch with friends and family
  • Memory Care: help with dementia caused by Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease; assistance with fall prevention, wandering prevention, and sundown syndrome
  • Scheduling: when care is needed; your loved one’s everyday routine; scheduling options
  • Logistics and policies: how our caregivers can access your loved one’s home; getting in touch with our office in Palm Beach Gardens; how to reschedule care when needed

Our in-home consultations include complimentary home safety and fall-risk assessments, and we’ll examine your loved one’s specific safety needs. Your care coordinator will answer your questions about caregiver qualifications, safety, oversight, emergency procedures, and other concerns.

What Happens After the Consultation?

Our care coordinator will use information from your consultation to develop a comprehensive care plan tailored to your loved one’s unique needs. The plan will include a schedule and a description of specific activities and tasks that require caregiver assistance. Your care coordinator will then match your loved one with a compatible caregiver. You can be sure of a great fit with our Select Your Caregiver program. Although, if you believe the fit is not quite right, you can request a different caregiver at any time, for any reason.

When Can Care to Begin?

At Visiting Angels Palm Beach Gardens, we can typically begin providing in-home care services within 48 hours of the initial consultation. In some cases, services can start on the same day.

I Live Outside of Palm Beach County; How Can I Participate?

If you live outside the area and your loved one needs in-home care, we can conduct an in-person consultation with your loved one and additional consultation with you over the phone.
