Caregivers and Codependency Home Care Solutions In Central Coast, CA

Codependency refers to a symbiotic relationship between people that can be severely damaging. People often use the term as a justification for why they remain in negative situations for too long. While this is likely not the case in most instances, it is something to keep an eye on. Codependency generally happens when an individual focuses too much on the needs of others.

Co-Dependents Anonymous, Inc. offers this definition that may be helpful in identifying signs of codependency: “Codependency is a tendency to behave in ways that negatively impact one’s relationship and quality of life. This behavior may be characterized by denial, low self-esteem, compliance or control patterns.”

Home care solutions services are supposed to make life easier for recipients, but if the caregiver is not experienced, codependency may become a factor. The following patterns are associated with codependency:

Denial Patterns

These patterns focus on how people respond to their own feelings. Dismissing the feelings of others is a textbook sign that a person may be codependent. People with denial pattern behavior usually believe themselves to be nobler than most and have trouble analyzing their own feelings.

Low Self-Esteem Patterns

Low self-esteem is problematic in decision making. People with low self-esteem may not find their lives worthwhile and even spurn praise, putting the needs of others before their own.

Compliance Patterns

Compliance is generally associated with an unwillingness to engage in conflict, and these individuals may do all they can to avoid offending others, which in their eyes could lead to disapproval. Compliant people keep their opinions to themselves and may even begin to compromise their own beliefs.

Control Patterns

Rather than being self-destructive, control patterns are aimed at other people. This can include manipulation of thoughts and feelings in others. Controlling individuals will offer help of their own volition and be bitter if that help isn’t accepted.
